I like this. Assume its mostly a camp deal, but he's a long athletic guy with some defensive ability. An Aminu starter-kit.

He's more skilled than Aminu offensively I think. (source: a couple of Knicks games I watched because of the Latvian guy). He is definitely smoother and polished on that end. But it's a good association because this guy also played with a very high motor and showed great athleticism. Much like Aminu he was flying around on defense and like him he's a tweener.

Seems like a poor mans Draymond to me. I like the signing.
Lets just hope he can get a chance to play under RC though

Oh and Old Follywell says he got 1.5 gtd years so he's on the team this year.

I'm glad we are giving some of these type guys a chance rather than signing journeymen like I feared. Keep this up Donnie.

Nice. Donnie must really believe in this guy, it's rare to see us actually carry an undrafted SL guy into the season. Last ones I can think of are Barea and Marquis Daniels.

Is this the youngest Mavs team in the last 10 years?

His offense looks more advanced than Aminu so yeah, this is a promising signing.

We badly need a center though.

I guess this is your typical low risk, moderate reward kind of guy. One wonders though if he was that good, wouldn't he have been drafted? Finding guys undrafted off the scrap heap that actually commit value to a team is a rarity, we did well with Daniels and Barea, but I'm not high on him yet.

Rather we gave a spot to Tyler who has at least been in the NBA and fills a position we need at the 5 rather than another tweaker...

Really like this signing, I know Mavs are saying he's raw, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's backing up Dirk sooner than later.

Williams/Harris/Felton
Matthew/Barea/Jenkins
Parsons/Anderson
Nowitzki/Ndour/Villenueva
Pachulia/Powell

Time to get a starting C Donnie. How much cap is left?

I'd say Ndour looks more like a long wing... he plays the 3 while Evans is more of a 4.

Another Mavs signing Maurice NDour

Post#13 » by Mr B » Fri Jul 24, 2015 3:37 am

Just going by those videos he definitely has more offensive game than Aminu. Very similar build though. Would like to see more of his defensive game though. I do definitely like that the Mavs are filling their roster with Aminu types. Not necessarily guys that play like Aminu but young athletic types that other teams seem to have given up on. Out of all the guys that they have signed if 1 or 2 of them turn out to have an Aminu type impact the Mavs have done a great job.

One thing to keep in mind though. It will be fun to watch these guys develop but this season is going to be brutal. I have a feeling they are going to lose a lot of games this year.

This signing seems to be Dallas way of rebuilding without tanking. Dallas has that veteran core while instead of signing those typical 35 year old past prime players, they are filling those bottom roster spots with youth. I imagine Cuban and Donnie are trying to make up for lost time in the draft.

Not bad, we need a C badly though, my guess is that McGee will end up here.

Maurice Ndour, Dallas Mavericks, PF

Summer League Averages: 9.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG, .512 FG%, 1.0 SPG, 2.0 BPG

Few players took better advantage of summer league than Maurice Ndour, who used it to find the radar and a contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

He's ultimately come out of nowhere to emerge as a possible hustle-and-energy big man.

Ndour played high school ball in Japan before spending two years in junior college and two more at Ohio. He then averaged 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds with the Knicks in Las Vegas, where his motor, nose for the ball and promising touch stood out throughout the week.

Ndour, who shot 43.5 percent from three-point range and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line last season at Ohio, simply projects as one of those bigs who can make things happen without needing plays drawn up for him.

Though the Mavericks have a handful of power forwards behind Dirk Nowitzki, none of them bring anything particularly unique or special to the table. In Dallas, Ndour's high activity level could potentially hold value to what's a fairly lifeless second unit, specifically up front.

If I was a GM I would be mad. That should be an offense.

Just saying. From the outside looking in the process. The players sometimes don't honor their word. And its on them. A franchise shouldnt instigate this behaviour. It is shameful.
