Any possibility we can finish as top 6 in the West?

Absolutely, Mavs control their destiny, the problem is they play Kings on the road twice, these 2 games will decide a lot in their 6th seed hopes.

6th seed should be the goal. MIN is very likely to be the 3rd seed and we match up well with them, especially if KAT is out or just coming back from injury by the playoffs.

Also we avoid the play-in altogether at 6. I just don't want to face Lebron or Steph in a play-in, irregardless of how old they are. You never know, especially with how inconsistent the Mavs are.

I believe at least on paper Kings' should be much better fit with Mavs' extremely improved paint D. I remember Fox being almost unstoppable in some games. Mavs are different team now. They're winning games even when they shoot very bad for 3, that was mission impossible before. I still hope some players come out of a shooting slump though.

Everything is in Mavs' hands.

They need to take care of business, next 3 games will tell us (again) if they are for real or frauds.

Sure, something might look great on paper and ends disastrous. Saying that, I would still rather have Mavs' schedule than Suns, which is brutal.

Suns have very tough schedule compared to Mavs.

For a real playoff series the role players have to hit the 3. Doesn't matter who the opponent is. Actually I am only scared of the Clippers

If you remembers 2 playoffs series against Clippers, you know that the reason for not winning the series was open highway in the paint. Not the case anymore. Mavs biggest problem is defending perimeter nowadays. Thing I'm the most afraid of is play-in game against Warriors.

Offense became a problem only if we were forced to change rotation so much to compensate interior defense and rebounding.
Like if you play a center + Maxi at PF then the offense gets stagnant as expected. I assume we would not need much of Maxi at 4.

Or if you play Boban then the spacing becomes challenging as Boban is too slow to attack to the rim or initiate a play for 4v3. Lively and Gafford is better at that.

On Jan 30th Mavs were 7th seed (26-21), they went 14-8 in that span (52 wins pace), and they are still at 7th seed, NOP who was 8th is actually 5th now.
No one in the top 10 in the west is pulling any punches, it's insane right now, there is a realistic scenario, where the Mavs go 10-3, get 50 wins and still miss the PO.

Seems like at the least the Pelicans found their rhythm and we are not able to catch them anymore. But honestly Pelicans and Mavs are the only teams that have a positive feeling at this moment. The rest of that group seems to struggle
