RS 23/24 - Mavs vs Grizzlies (Tuesd., 830PMEST)

I'm not defending Green, but this game wasn't on him, Grizzlies asked Luka and Kyrie to beat them, and allowed them to iso, and Kidd didn't attempt to respond, defensively, while wasn't brilliant, he was far from being the problem, insistence on micro ball was.

Every starter with 0/3/0 stats is a problem. Maybe Grizzlies wouldn't be successful in their strategy, if Josh could create something for himself or others. And D on Luka and Kyrie was very good, what we for sure can't say for Mavs' D, where Josh should be the leader. Nobody can have that low expectations for Nba starter.

What I eatched was the 2 stas going 1 on 1 and not involving anyone else, the only guys who tried were DJJ and Hardy, maybe Green wasn't assertive enough, but Luka and Kyrie played right into Grizzlies strategy.

Please explain to me, what use is giving the ball to Josh in half court offense?

Did he cut? He can shoot only wide open corner 3s, which Grizzlies didn't give away. His ball handling and understanding of the game is so basic that he can't do anything in half court. He looks like headless chicken in hyper drive.

Tell me, what can do Green with the ball in half court O, when he's guarded?

Josh was easily beaten by Smart in 1 on 1 D at least twice in very short period of time. I'm not saying that they lost because of that, I'm saying what is Josh value, if he can even guard Smart on ball?

I agree it's on Luka and I explained to you that no one can play all RS games perfectly. Especially when he visually doesn't look 100%. But good teams should find other ways to win against bad teams, and D is normally the way to go. And there I would expect defensive specialists to lead the way.

Josh is MLE level player, he shouldn't be able to do much, if he was he would be paid more.
I'm fine with a bad game, but Luka has missed 3 games, had 5 horrible ones (Raps, Pels, Jazz, Cavs and Grizzlies), and few bad ones (DEN 1st game, Bulls).
That's 1 in a 4 where Luka isn't a factor or a bad one, is this good?

Green can do things on offense but when everything is iso by Luka/Kyrie he can't be used.
Green minutes were matched with Brunson, and Thibs changed his strategy to trapping Kyrie and Kidd, unsurprisingly had no clue what to do, which is the reason for +/ drop.

- Bring the ball up the floor and pass to the big for DHO, save Luka/Kyrie effort
- spot up shooter
- attack the weakside when lane is compromised
- leak on the fastbreak

He shouldn't
- run P&R
- iso on average defenders and above
- drive to packed lanes, he's not that good at it, for that you have Luka and Kyrie

You're forgetting that Exum is better in everything, including D.

Add injuries and small ball and the there is easy additional 30 MPG which should go to THJ.
