There is no reason for Kidd not to run plays like that, it works with Jokic in Denver, it's such a shame our own coach can't figure out simple stuff.

Then defense on the other hand as you mentioned, yes i say this over and over again, stuff like video down below absolutely kills my joy watching this team and it puzzles me how Kidd constantly allows this to happen. It's the very basic and simple stuff you learn from early age, how pro NBA players fail at this.

Is this a miscommunication? Look at the 0:07 second mark. Kyrie seems to be acting very lazy here. The way he sagged off and went back to the rim was nonsense. There was no reason to get that back and letting 5-6 ft distance with the other three players. I mean Kyrie is not going to block anyone at the rim anyway so this should not count as a miscommunication but a bad defensive play.

Kyrie usually tries to defend his opponent closely even if the ball is in the other side of the court. He is small so I assume he tries to focus on avoiding the entry pass and slow down the cuts. In general playing a small player creates those disadvantages of him not bringing help defense that Luka and Mavs team defense requires.

I went back and watched a game from the 22 season. Having 3 ball handlers on the court made a lot of difference. It definitely increases efficiency and decision making. It would have been huge if Spencer D came back. I really believe that. Too bad it seems like he had something against Dallas. Going forward, we really should try to keep 3 ball handlers on the court as much as we can get away with. Ball handlers/play makers/passers just see the game differently and it opens up so much stuff and makes the team harder to guard.

We traded Dinwiddie to acquire Kyrie after Dinwiddie being part of WCF run.
He has all the reasons to hate Kyrie investment and feel resentful against Cuban.

He made a game-winning block against Lillard today. I am not going to call Dinwiddie as a consistently good defender but when things matter his size, length were helping him in defense for sure. I opened the game in 4th qt and he even had possessions against Bobby Portis and didn't get abused like Kyrie would due to huge size/height difference.

This is a nice example of how a 'real' guard would facilitate offense next to Luka. Good example of how Brunson-Dinwdiddie was taking the lead when Luka was doubled or exhausted. Making the reads, penetrating and finding the open man for a good shot.

With Kyrie, this play would suddenly become a fadeaway mid-range shot. It would look great, and he'd make it sometimes. But if he misses, then its a fastbreak, and momentum swings to the other team. Same with THJ, this would be 3pt heat check.

Luka-Exum-Kyrie is better than Luka-Kyrie. But then again, can we afford to have 3 guards defensively for longer stretches?

You have everything on nba.com, just depends on what you want. The last I was talking about are Mavs players on/off. You will see there, why Luka's offense is not a problem, why Kidd doesn't play Gafford more and how incredibly important is Exum.

Dinwiddie is unplayble this season and DFS is a mediocre role players but it's all gold when you have to insult Irving
