RS 23/24 - Mavs @ Bulls (Mond., 8PMEST)

Post#1 » by Dirk » Sun Mar 10, 2024 2:44 pm

I hear the Bulls have been tough lately. They beat the Kings, the Warriors, the Cavs.... but are coming off from the west coast... so maybe the Mavs can take care of business? The Suns play Cavs and Celtics.

I was trying to find a list of "most consecutive field goals made", but can only find the record.

Most Consecutive Field Goals Made

Wilt Chamberlain 35
2/17/67 to 2/28/67

It would be interesting to look at a full list.

Gafford is 16 off the record.

That's why i said that lately it looks and feels like Exum in the lineup instead of Kyrie feels much better on the eye. We'll see after some games how stats will compare.

Far the best Mavs on/off numbers have Exum, Luka, Lively and Kyrie, in that order, add Washington and you have the best possible starting lineup. Kyrie will start in any case anyway. First change should be Kyrie for JJD, then Exum for Josh or Hardy.

Every game closer I want to see more of the core 7 on the court together ..... Luka,Kyrie,Dante ,Gafford,DLive, PJ , DJJ

The two X factors right now are Dante Exum and Daniel Gafford. Watching Exum with Kyrie and Luka and watch them fine tune the offense around them . Seeing Gafford with more minutes then his 18 minutes a game with the Mavs . Im tired of seeing Maxi's 41 percent FG and 31 percents from 3's getting minutes at Center when you have a guy who can get 4 blocks and shoot over 70 percent FG under 20 minutes .

Keep Green and THJ's minutes down, split them between Maxi at PF/DJJ at SF, and sprinkle in Hardy and Omax. Team would be more successful

A very important night, with win we would overtake the Kings, and if the Suns lose to the Cavs in Cleveland, we can reach the 6th position at the end of the day.

Mavs have to be in playoff mode every game to get good positioning .Time to tighten the rotations .

With 3 PG's ,Luka/Kyrie/Dante on the team this is so wrong ....... only 3 teams have a worst differential in assists than the Mavs ..... Portland a -4.3 ,Charlotte -3.5 , Chicago -3.1 , Dallas -2.6 . Of the top 10 offensive teams ,Mavs are the worst in assists.
Its not just defense but not sharing the ball holds them back.

Some folks here love seeing Luka's crazy stats and his hero ball style. Maybe the blame should be on Kidd who chooses that kind of game strategy since he doesn't know how to coach.

Are you sure? In last 8 games, they have lost 5 of them, they had 3rd offensive rtg and 30th defensive rtg. I believe it's pretty clear where is the problem.

You should try to look some other stats too. ;) Hint, elite offense and the worst D in the league in meltdown period.

Since Luka is getting criticism from all over about the lack of passing and ball movement it shows how it looks from the team stats where the Mavs are in relationship to the other teams they're fighting for playoff position.
Luka has stats that compete with any other player in the NBA for MVP but will lose out to Jokic because Nuggets are winning more games than Luka's team and also finish behind Shai Gilgeous Alexander.
Neither team OKC and Denver have 3 PG's like the Mavs but they move the ball alot more in their offense and win games by it.

Again, Mavs have better offensive rtg than Denver and a little worse than OKC. Problem is that OKC has 4th defensive rtg, Denver 10th and Mavs 22nd. Maybe Denver should move the ball less? ;) Luka and Kyrie are great Iso players, that's the reason for low assists. I kinda doubt that we want THJ&co. taking Luka's and Kyrie's shots.

All top teams in Nba have top 10 D. Mavs would be top 5 team easily with just an average D.
