RS 23/24 - Mavs vs Warriors (Wed., 830PMEST)

Post#1 » by Dirk » Tue Mar 12, 2024 10:44 am

Massive game.

Mavs beat Miami, but then they lost to the Wizards as well. So far, this qualifies as a fake win run unless they win here and then maybe steal one? At OKC and Nuggets.

Gafford is somehow close to an all time record.

The Warriors beat the Spurs without Curry. Stephen Curry received an MRI that confirmed a sprained right ankle after exiting Thursday's game against the Bulls. Curry will not play in tonight's game against the Spurs and will be re-evaluated again on Tuesday.

Night 1 of a B2B which sucks, even if its at home and then just a short drive north the next day.

Hopefully the Mavs pour it on early and give the starters some rest, which should be easily doable if Curry continues to sit.

We are lucky that curry is DNP and we must take full advantage of this must win situation.

Mavs usually have problems when the opponents best players sit out.
Let's see how this will look with the new energy built

The Mavs have won their last 2 since beating Miami, and they haven't lost to the Wizards this year...

Dirk is saying Miami lost to the Wizards after the Mavs game, which makes Mavs win less impressive (Miami were 12-3 before woth losses only to contenders).

Yep...those games worry me the most.
Every game should be treated like a PO game from here on out.

Just worried about Kidd being lulled into playing small ball rather than imposing Gafford and Lively on GSW.

That would be playing right into Kerr's hands, which Kidd has tendency to do against good coaches.

This is what makes JKidd the worst coach he can be ,this also is what Lakers darvin Ham does too , trying to outplay small teams at their own game instead of playing to your teams strength.

Green is a HOF but he's only 6'6" and you have to attack the middle . Chris Paul is 6'1" and he will have to try to contain Kyrie . This leaves Kuminga or Wiggins on Luka further weakening GS's post defense.

I expect ball movement tonight just because I think the Mav players can see that Gafford is nearing a untouchable NBA record and want him to get it .

We'll all be watching .....

Also, Draymond is a late scratch as well.

My only worry with Green being out is GSW going extra small and Kidd obliging and doing the same. Play Gafford and Lively and make them punish their small lineups. Don't fall into the trap of playing their game and getting into a 3 point shootout. Outmuscle them and bully ball is our advantage, use it.

why is maxi fouling when he has help? thats just dumb. the only way that makes sense if your trying to prevent lively from getting a foul called on him.

this is why plus minus is bs. kyrie is out there with thj and josh green and both had wide open shots and missed. and maxi defense has been trash as well. no support on the baseline. maxi thj and josh green - how do u expect to out score ur opt unless their hitting shots and playing defense?

note: what im trying to say is plus minus is highly dependent on what lineups u play with.
