To give Kidd some credit he actually played a huge lineup most of the game. At some point we had Ky - Luka - PJ - Maxi - Gaff/Lively out there.

Yes we are all obsessed with disliking (not hating) subpar players such as THJ Green Maxi.

No, I think besides you and daoneandonly nobody here is.

Also THJ is 32, Maxi is 32 - JG is 23. Slightly different parts of their careers and 2 are getting worse and one is improving.

I can safely say Maxi is the worst player on the roster to me.

THJ reminds me of Jerry Stackhouse in his final mavs years. Inefficient chucker.

Green is an amazing dog if there is a flying frisbee. That's about it. He is young but basketball iq is hard to teach.

Well still improving, being athletic and hitting the 3 ball above 40% year after year is enough to make you a useful player in this league. Plenty of bball IQ luckily in Luka and Ky to make up for it :D

Great game against the Champs.

Kyrie hitting the game winner will hopefully only make this team closer as we proceed forward.

Definitely looked like a team and it felt like a deep PO game.

One more year of Maxi and the $11m he makes over season and then we'll probably still keep him.

THJ to me is typically solid except for late. He's shooting 36.1% from three this season and I have mentioned in the past that anything below 36% and he will be useless to us. I remember a couple of sesosns ago when he shot 32-33% from three. Thankfully he doesn't turn the ball over often.

He's shooting 37% from the floor this month at 9.8ppg on almost 9 attempts. His PPG is being carried by February and January but even then he shot 44% and 40% from the floor on 15 and 16 attempts per game. His defense is even more ridiculous.

He's overreaching himself often this time and for some reason he has two more attempts per game this season than he did last year.

Many of us on the board have wanted him traded over the years. We had him as our second option in the past at times and he needs to be nothing more than a forth option. However, if we continue to trade good talent, and THJ is good, we will continue the cycle we've been doing.

2 more after this season actually. He got a 3 year extension last summer. He will end up making close to 80 million dollars in the NBA all as a Mav unless he's traded which I don't see happening.

He and Powell only here could have earned 80million dollars in contracts. Unbelievable.

Kidd was one of the smartest players in the league but as a coach is one of the dumbest. Insane.

He is just too slow to understand basketball stuff but finally we played big all game long, if you win the rebounding battle the game will be easy.

PJ guarded every position on the court and grabbed a lot of rebounds, his shooting % will improve. He is what we needed.

I'm sorry for Jokic, no more scrimmage games against Powell and Maxi. Gafford and Lively were amazing.

Yeah he's been very similar to what we used to get in Shawn Marion. Also reminds me of Marion from 3 as well. For some reason both are/were terrible from the corner 3. But above the break 3 pointers (ex. straight line), he's good.

This game in particular really showed his defensively versatility. The guy defended Jokic quite a bit this game and did pretty dang awesome. I particular liked the situations where PJ guarded Jokic and they had either Lively or Gafford be the rover off of Gordon. It resulted in some Gordon alley-oops sometimes but a lot of the times it worked.

This was a "Marker" game . The Mavs shot very poorly from the 3 pt line yet mauled the Nuggets in rebounds and 2nd chance shots.
They're getting blocked shots and now out rebounding quality teams. This isnt the team that started out the year.
The Dallas Mavs put their hopes in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to lead them. But look who's standing with them as they fight for playoff position at the end of the regular season. 1st round pick Derreck Livelly ,20 y o ,Daniel Gafford 25 y o . PJ Washington 25 y o, Derrick Jones Jr 27 y o , Dante Exum 28 y o. Last yrs players Josh Green 23 y o,Tim Hardaway Jr 32 yo and Maxi Kleber 32 y o pushed back to 7th 8th 9th players off the bench.
The Mavs are younger faster and quicker and Taller and competing with defense ,rebounding ,and blocking shots . I dont recognize them but I'm liking them a whole lot better .

Agree, they played tough and fight hard on every rebounds, if this is the mindset we are a PO team because Luka and Kyrie can outscore every opponents.

We need to make our 3s, last night our role players shooted 0-13 from 3.

For the first time in decades I am optimistic when shots are not falling because we have realistic chances to get an offensive rebound.

But let's not overreact. This was a single game season record for offensive rebounds. If that would have not been the case we would've lost because of missing threes from the role players.

I hope this and Kyrie's gamewinner bring the team closer and create (a already slightly existing) new grinding attitude.

Usually after games like this it hard to be motivated and you gonna lose the next game. So keep focused and show what you are made of guys. I am really optimistic now (also for the fourth time this season after getting disappointed each single time)

Another great game by Luka and an amazing winner floater by Kyrie.
Lebron used to choke in clutch moments a lot, so Kyrie helped him big-time in Cavs situations. Having both Luka and Kyrie for the last minutes is great if the team can afford their defensive weaknesses.

I trust this team to find a basket even in the toughest playoff games. It's just we need to be within striking distance, no team can afford to concede 120-130 points.

Kidd slander is a little too much. The team itself is so new. It takes months, years to become a team. Like Aaron Gordon and Jokic played 3.5 years together. Anyone remember MPJ with Jokic-Murray in his first two years? It was bumpy ride for them.
Kidd somehow needs to adjust everyone in the roster and prepare both THJ-Kleber for playoff time.

3 easy games next. (3 must win!)
Then Kings x2. (1-1 would be good. both away games and first game is b2b)
Rockets-GSW-Hawks-GSW-Rockets (4-1)
Hornets-Heat, Pistons, Thunder (3-1)

Optimistic scenario: 11-3
This would put us out of play-ins.

They talked about Irving's game-winning shot, but they also praised Lively for his great defense against Jokic, who was 2-8 from the field when Lively defended him.

It's crazy that we won the game even though the players (not named Luka or Kyrie) shot 0-13 for 3 points, but I really like it.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
