Ben & Skin trade idea: KVH for Shaq

Post#1 » by jwa1107 » Wed Jan 2, 2008 10:16 pm

sign & trade KVH to 3 year deal starting at 17m
first year guaranteed, last two not guaranteed

to MIA for Shaq and has 3 year, 20m per year contract

why for DAL, even at age 50 part-time Shaq> any DAL C
gives DAL the post presence they lack and frees up outside shooters

why for MIA, at 8-23 they have the worst record in the East
no one else can help MIA create 25m in cap space this offseason

wherein MIA can rebuild around DWade

love it for DAL , even though it means salary cap and luxtax hell for 3 more years

doubt MIA would ever do it though...

*sigh*

What if mavs made it with Some other scrub that could help the Heat out. Fazekas, Ager, etc. I see benefit of KVH and his deal, but he is no help unless he actually plays. Shaq deals keep getting sparer and sparer.

B and S have suggested this last week. I like the idea, and with 14 on Roster, would not cost any other player jobs. mavs could then trade a c (Damp) and others for something good. I think that prospect of getting an inside guy would make mavs so much better, and they could slow the game and have some real beef up front.

imagine a C rotation of Shaq & Damp

trade Diop - and you can get a much better piece than trading Damp due to his contract IMHO

Even though Shaq has taken a huge step backward this year. I think it's worth a try if we can't get Kidd or another SG of All-star talent.

It would help against the Spurs and Jazz but would it help versus the Warriors or the Suns?

Yeah, the Heat is gonna jump all over that idea. "If only we could trade Shaq away for KVH, or just give him away in other words, please oh please take him."

Good grief, what is this nonsense? And these Ben and Skin guys are supposed to have a clue? This is a dumb dumb idea. Miami is not giving away Shaq.

Actually, the Heat fans are all over Diop, Bass and KVH for Shaq.

However, Shaq is not worth the 20 mil payroll alone, much less the 20 mil lux tax and the loss of good young talent like Diop or Bass. That means Shaq, who if LUCKY, to even dress for the game can go weezing down the court for 25 +/- minutes would cost us $40 mil + youth!!!!!!!!!!!!! That just AIN"T happening. Crazy and insane!! Absolutley awful!

Any Shaq to Dallas trades start with Dampier, there just is no way around that. Not saying he has to end up in Miami, but Damp & Shaq are not BOTH going to be on this team.

Oh, just want to point out that NY is a much more likely suiter.

As deep as Thomas is in right now, he may be deperate enough to do Curry, Lee & Q-Rich for Shaq (a trade I read on the trade forum and I think makes sense for both teams).

It would be "interesting" to see Randolph/Shaq front court. It is so crazy that it may actually work with Randolph's range.

We're going to be in the luxury tax for a while anyway, so if Cuban is willing to shell it out I wouldn't hesitate to give KVH, Diop, and Bass. Financially it's easier for us if we send them Dampier, but Shaq would inevitably miss games due to injury and I'd be more comfortable having Damp as the backup.

1. Even considering how old and crappy Shaq is now, Miami wont trade him.
2. Dallas is probably the last team that would trade for him because we are hated rivals.
3. I guarantee if he were on the market, it would cost more than KVH's contract.
4. Miami lost Alonzo for his career, if he was to be traded, it would be for another C.

1) All the Miami fans are trying to get expirings for him.
2) We are not a Miami "rival." You use that word TOO losely.
3) Cuban would not do that...the Heat would.
4) Dampier starts the trade. :D

Unfortunately its not up to the fans... As long as he has one hand on Pat Rileys nuts and the other hand on Dwyane Wade's, he isnt going anywhere.

Miami might do it if Dallas included Diop and Bass like the Heat fans want.

But I don't think Avery wants to do this trade.

Miami's GM is an idiot. He should just give Shaq away for nothing just to get rid of that awful contract.

Maybe we should sign Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, and Reggie Miller... We all know how much the Heat like players that are way past their primes.

I remember a day when i thought the same thing about Alonzo and Shaq.

Shaq's a cool cat, and seems like he can get along with anyone (not named kobe)

I'm not talking about personality; I'm talking about payroll and tax on top of that.

   Yeah, you sure are right. The Heat are so bad, it would make you laugh reading their topics:

1) Wade can't carry a team any better than the rest
2) Dark Days for Heat fans
3) The Season, That Never was
4) What Happens to Wade now??
5) Shaq's injury worse than originally thought
6) Dirk's revenge (Yup, that's your game thread title)
7) Riley to step aside after season return to president role
8 ) NBA Draft lottory discussion
9) "Next loss: Heat @ Grzzlies, 4pm Sunday" <--I'm not making that up!
10 ) Should Wade start jacking up 3's?
11) "We need an official rebuilding thread"
12) Would you like Pat Riley to retire?
13) D-Wade's past shoulder injury worse than originally thought
14) Wade #1 Turnovers, Shaq #1 in fouls in NBA
15) Miami interested in Skiles
16) Do people here get the feeling we are...ahem...tanking?
17) High paid hoes
18) This season is over thread
19) What do the Heat do at deadline?
20) Today was dissapointing

Now who would have know that a Heat fan actually got the call right? Not a single Mav thread except the game thread!

No in all serious, on the Mav's forum, people post a thread for each trade and on Miami's you have a sticky for all random trade proposals that has 33 pages since the regular season started.

I was going to create a thread on this but I think this is a good place for it.

Today I was listening to ESPNradio/Dallas online and the guy's asked if the Mavs should do a Shaq for D. Harris, 2 draft picks and KVH's contract.

This is not a rumored deal just a question that they asked. Would the Mavs be willing to make a move like this?
