As expected, Jeff Niemann was named the 5th starter....and sending Wade Davis to the bullpen as a long reliever.

I personally think that's a mistake, Wade is a better pitcher than Niemann... IMO of course.

I would disagree.

Davis's stuff isn't nearly as effective nor as consistent as Nieman's IMO. Nieman's primary issue is health.

Stamina with both can be a problem, but Davis relies on his fastball too much (he doesn't overpower anyone).

Davis may be better suited for the pen unless he develops something more than a mediocre fastball.

To your point though, the jury is still out on both
