The official Ruddy Lugo update thread

Post#1 » by Three34 » Sun Jun 17, 2007 6:06 am

Ruddy was put on waivers when the Rays signed Jay Witasick.

Ironically, Lugo was claimed off waivers by Oakland, and immediately placed on the 25 man roster to take Witasick's place.

FIRST OUTING:

1 IP
0 H
0 BB
0 R
1 K

:D

SECOND OUTING:

0.2 IP
5 H
1 BB
7 R
1 K

:(

So, yeah, that was fun. Rays appear to have won this brief exchange, based off of this tiny sample size. Hooray!

I won't really miss Lugo, will you?

Well, if this pitching staff keeps giving up 10 runs, they will need to supply some kind of entertainment.

The A's also made a roster move on Monday, calling up right hander Shane Komine from Sacramento and sending down righty Ruddy Lugo.

Komine was 3-8 with a 5.31 ERA with the Rivercats this year, and had a 5.00 ERA without a decision in two appearances for the A's last season.

Lugo was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Thursday and pitched twice. He had a scoreless appearance on Friday but then gave up seven earned runs in two-thirds of an inning on Saturday. He is 2-0 with a 13.14 ERA between the two teams this year.

Probably should have just started there, To put him on the 25 man roster, they designated Erasmo Ramirez for assignment. Which seems silly. Because he's qutie handy. And Lugo isn't.

Yet all we get is talk of Billy Beane's greatness.

That was a waste.

You think somebody didn't do their homework?

Quite possibly. His Durham ERA was awesome, but that's far from the story. His walk rate was still astronomical.

More importantly, let's go claim us some Erasmo.

The back end of the bullpen is almost always somewhat of a revolving door.

You gotta try out 10 to pick one, and pick out 10 to keep one.

But Erasmo Ramirez is the LOOGY that we don't have. He's actually a good player. He craps on Fossum, for a start. He's a lefty that can actually get lefties out, and he can actually work the occasional 1-2-3 inning. He's far better than J.C. Romero who seems to live off of that one year still. Someone give me a position of authority so that I can make this move.
