Teixeira Signs 1-Year Deal With Braves

Atlanta Journal-Constitution - The Braves signed arbitration-eligible Mark Teixeira to a one-year, $12.5 million contract Thursday, and Braves Nation can only hope future negotiations go so smoothly with the slugger's agent.
"I don't know that it signals that, I just know that we'll continue working at [a contract extension]," said Braves GM Frank Wren, who has had plenty of recent conversations with Teixiera's famously hard-driving agent, Scott Boras. "We've had quite a bit of dialogue."
The Braves and Teixeira won't say whether an extension might be worked out before or during the season or if Boras will have his client wait to test the free-agent waters when he's eligible next winter.
The Braves also signed infielder Omar Infante ($1.4 million) and relief pitchers Mike Gonzalez ($2,362,500) and Tyler Yates ($800,000) to one-year contracts, leaving closer Rafael Soriano and outfielder Matt Diaz unsigned among the Braves' arbitration-eligible players. [READ]

they're not in the majors right now so who gives a damn, you want an organization to be stacked w/pitchers and catchers. a log jam at a position isnt a bad thing to have. catchers are hard to come by and there value will be higher automatically b/c of there premium position, plus if salty's defense doesnt improve this year and teagarden continues lighting up the minors we could see salty move to 1st.
