Texas Rangers Memorial Weekend - .500!!

Post#1 » by studcrackers » Mon Mar 31, 2008 5:12 am

Since the game threads arent really active I'd like to propose that we make monthly threads for the games, starting with April

The projected lineup for tomorrow is:

2B Ian Kinsler
SS Michael Young
CF Josh Hamilton
3B Hank Blalock
DH Milton Bradley
LF David Murphy
RF Marlon Byrd
C Gerald Laird
1B Ben Broussard

its thought that eventually milton bradley will hit cleanup but he's only been hitting (recovering from a torn ACL) for the past week and a half

The Pitching matchup will be Kevin Milwood vs. Erik Bedard who contended for a Cy Young and probably would have won had he not been shut down early for shoulder problems which I believe were pre cautionary.

Michael Young is 1-17 lifetime vs. bedard

here's the Mariners lineup:

CF Ichiro
2B Jose Lopez
LF Raul Ibanez
1B Richie Sexson
3B Adrian Beltre
RF Brad Wilkerson
DH Jose Vidro
C Kenji Johjima
SS Yuniesky Betancourt

pretty mediocre if you ask me, if they win the division it'll be b/c of the angels injuries moreso then them overtaking the division they were a lucky team last year who knows if there bullpen (outside of JJ Putz) will be as good as it was and that lineup does not look like it'll score alot of runs.

if they'll win it'll be b/c of there 2 cy young candidate pitchers (king felix and bedard) and one of the best defenses in the majors. they have a decent back of the rotation in miguel batista carlos silva (signed for 4 years 48 million, overpaid yes but i can see him succeeding in that park. he always gets shelled vs. the rangers though) and jarrod washburn

here's the dmn preview: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 5a2f0.html

Good idea. I was just about to make one for the entire year but I like this idea better.

well despite us shooting ourselves in the foot for the 2nd night in a row with horrid defense, newcome Josh Hamilton saved his best for last hitting a go ahead 2 run homerun in the 9th against one of the best closers in the game JJ Putz

April hopefully will be a new kinder month to DFW sports

1-0 for the rangers hopefully the Mavs pull out the W tomorrow against the W's instead of Nellie schooling Avery again

no posts for a while, figure we could get some people in here to say SOMETHING about the good pitching we've been having (aside from dustin nipperts sole outing and jason jennings last start) but milwood, kason gabbard and vicente have all been great

Nice stretch right now. However, Still in last, but won last three series 2-1. At this pace they will be over .500 by June.

these last several weeks have been fun to watch. they lost 7 straight to boston and detroit and washington was on the brink of being fired and probably saved his job by winning 2 of 3 vs. minnesota.

and from there they took off, having won 6 straight series and a chance to sweep seattle tomorrow. the defense has sort of got there act together and there were 3 highlight reel plays made by ranger players tonight.

we win tomorrow we're back at .500!

its amazing how bad we are in day games, since the loss yesterday we're 5-14 in day games and 24-16 in night games (.667 baseball)

but im proud of this team, im not sure how long they can keep it up or how long i'll feel good about them but i really like watching this team.

and according to jamey newberg's latest email josh hamilton has gone from 6th place to 2nd in outfield voting for the all star game. and he became the 1st AL player to win the player of the month award in april and may.
