so the bullpen **** us again. on the bright side, travis looks legit. their offense is great, their defense is great but their pitching is horrible. my god man, it's always something with this team though… they can't just put it all together…

So now we're going to have a roster featuring both Goins and Diaz. What a nightmare. And yes, it's laughable that they strung Reyes along like this.

Why did they even bother bringing back Kawasaki if not for situations like this?

Pompey says he was playing scared, and it sure looks like Gibby and AA have been managing scared so far this season. They know they're on the hot seat.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I thought someone said Castro was sent down for Delabar?

Just that they would like him to be. Mainly because watching Delabar blow games wouldn't be a frustrating as watching Castro blow games and his chance to become a good starter.

No they didn't!

Indeed... I and others are on record in the prediction thread that the bullpen will be a real issue. So far it's a lot worse than even I expected. They still don't have a legitimate RHP for the late innings, which is just incredibly bad roster management by AA. There is blame to go around here.

By "they" I meant Beeston and AA who said all off-season that the bullpen will basically fix itself

And once again, our best relief pitcher is being put in the highest leverage bullpen job. Subject to change if they can find another 20 year that can throw a 95 MPH fastball.

Sanity prevails on Castro. Of course, if you're using him in lower leverage situations, the question arises as to why he's in the bigs at all.

Hopefully Cecil's first appearance as closer goes well, otherwise they might give it to someone else immediately afterwards.

There's also talk that the Jays are considering moving Sanchez back to the pen.

Amazing how many of us saw this coming from a mile away (Sanchez being a poor starter, Castro being rushed, etc), but the people in charge of making those decisions couldn't.

So Gibbons thinks "pressure" is why Castro has no command of the fastball and why hitters are making absurdly hard contact against him? If he's used in low leverage situations you can bet he'll turn them into high leverage in no time.

**** this stupid franchise. After everything that has transpired they're still **** around the problem.

Wonder who's really managing the castro situation. Gibby or AA.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/devon-tr ... -the-year/

Some quick history. Blue Jays at second base, by year:

2010: 75 wRC+
2011: 71
2012: 77
2013: 48
2014: 76

The last five years, they’ve averaged a 70 wRC+, ranking worst in the AL and second-worst in the majors. Blue Jays second basemen have been worth a combined 0.2 WAR, meaning there’ve been five years of replacement-level production, more or less. Some seemingly decent players disappointed. Some seemingly less-decent players played up to their abilities. Devon Travis represents the end of this ugliness. While he’s definitely not this good, he’s just as definitely not that bad.

In three weeks, Devon Travis has out-produced five years of Jays second basemen...by a factor of six.

Edit: another way of putting that. At his current pace versus that of the 2Bs of the past five years, 1 season of Devon Travis would equal the productivity of 243 of their seasons.
