This team is just painful to watch. Defense and pitching has to be basically perfect to compensate for this anemic lineup. We are basically playing with 2.5 somewhat decent hitters - Vladdy, Bo and half a season of Springer.

They sure are! They do not like hitting with RISP. lol.

If we are out by the trade deadline in July just sell and recoup some prospects. Then at the end of the season fire Shapiro and Atkins and clear house with the coaching staff.

Tampa, NY, and Baltimore are the better teams in our division and will end up ahead of us in the standings.

Gotta use Mayza here in an easy loss when Gausman has 4 innings max tomorrow

Well he should. He brought Atkins with him. I don't trust this man and he hasn't won jack **** since 2001 when he started as a GM for the Cleveland Indians.

I don't know what's wrong with this team. But when one guy has awful at bats, it rubs off on the entire team. They were able to last ONE WHOLE game before reverting to the exact same garbage approaches at the plate they had all of last season (taking meatballs down the middle, swinging at high fastballs, not working the count and just swinging at the first pitch etc). Their freaking pitcher had 40 pitches after 4 innings for crying out loud. That's inexcusable! Where's the patience? Where the discipline? Where's all the talk about only swinging at pitches you can do damage with?

There is no accountability throughout this organization

After that flaccid / limp offensive season last year, Guillermo is still here.

After that who-pulled-Berrios blame-game between John Schneider and Ross Atkins, no one got fired.

This is not a serious organization

It seems like the main issues with the team are the culture and coaching and development of our players, both of which are not up to par. Additionally, Atkins is responsible for building this team, but the only good players we have are Bo and Vladdy. It is important to keep both of them happy if we want to see them stay with the Blue Jays long-term. In my opinion, things are not looking too promising right now.

I won't be spending a single cent going to any home games this season until substantial changes are made to the roster, coaching and front office. This team is not worth spending any money on inflated ticket prices and overpriced concessions. **** shatkins, **** Schneider.

Baltimore seems legit this year too. What an insane lineup. Yankees lost Cole for a while but they'll be good too. And the Rays are always competitive. It might end up being a long year. Just feels like we're counting on way too many things to go right.

Did you read poster Courtside's story of his son being interviewed by Shapiro for his special analytics team?

I think this FO focuses too much on moneyball - they can identify true talent level of MLB-ready players (Robbie Ray, Semien, Guasman etc) by their analytics but when it comes to prospect development - it's wasteland since Cherrington left.

Btw, Vladdy's "success" is AA's, not Shapiro/Atkins

Baltimore was legit even before they acquired a #1 SP in a contract year Corbin Burnes for pennies on the dollar

Shapiro will likely stay on as President, but I do think Atkins will be sent packing (even by July if this team is out of it). The contracts of both guys expire after 2025. This team has the 7th highest payroll in MLB just two million shy of the World Champs Texas (with a Luxury Tax payroll of 247 million); and if we are 4th or 5th place in the AL East at the deadline- I do think and hope changes will be made.

Rogers Ownership has stepped up with the funds, but this team's front office has made foolish decisions after foolish decisions the past few off-seasons starting with the Varsho for Moreno/Gurriel trade after the 2022 Season. In this past off-season, Signing IKF to a two year guarantee for 15 million was a head scratcher, when the guy is a terrible below average hitter. To maximize Varsho as a player, he needed to be a full-time player in CF for 2024. I was then in favour of signing Gurriel back to play in LF, who signed a very reasonable deal with Arizona (10 million for this year and 14 million in 2025, with an opt out after that). 10 million is what they are paying Kiermaier for 2024 (Same as Gurriel).

Gurriel and Moreno off to nice starts for Arizona, unlike some of our players who are continuing with their struggles. Teoscar Hernandez as DH who hit two homers yesterday, also made sense on a one year deal but the Dodgers scooped him up. He had expressed interest in returning to the Jays early in the off-season, but Shapiro/Atkins was not interested I guess. So we signed Justin Turner. Only the first series of 2024, but if this team is in 4th or 5th place like I also expect them to be come July in the AL East- Mattingly will also replace Schneider as Manager. A mini rebuild might be even necessary at that time, with a guy like James Click ready to take over. Shapiro and Atkins came in preaching how their focus will be on developing an excellent farm system year in and year out, but the farm system is still one of the worst in MLB.

Imagine spending hundreds of millions on stadium renovations when you're literally heading for a rebuild in two years when Bo and Vlad leave lmao. Hope the 5000 people that show up per game enjoy the $100 sushi platters at the fancy new restaurants and $50 cocktails at the fancy new bars.

It has nothing to do with about being a serious organization, but a consequence of your personnel decisions. It will result when you are relying on two catchers like Jansen and Kirk. Whether you say it is Bad Luck or that Jansen is made of Glass- the guy is injury prone every year. That is the one consistent and frustrating thing about him every year. Meanwhile Kirk requires to be load managed and needs his rest days (maybe due to his stamina/conditioning or fat and out of shape frame).

It would be nice if one our catchers was still Gabriel Moreno under team control for the next 6 seasons who lead MLB in Defensive War in 2023 as a Rookie- but evidently people like you and Ross Atkins felt that trading him for a below average hitting, Defensive outfielder like Varsho was the better move for this organization. That is why you are stuck relying on scrubs like Serven to be your backup catcher when Jansen is hurt, and Kirk needs his rest.

Kirk is miles better than Moreno. Jays would be best served in playing him for two innings 2 days into the season with the game on the line

Haven't been to a game in years and have no plans to do so any time soon. You can't end a season like they did last year (with the GM throwing the manager under the bus and the manager indicating that his hands were tied) and have no changes made. Total clown show.
