Crazy that the Jays are 8-4 and yet 4 games back of the division. Would like to see some more convincing wins soon, but keep these 1 run wins in the bank and hopefully the starting pitching aside from Gausman starts to turn things around.

Last year's team does not win this game. This team appears to recognize that sometimes to win, a little small ball is needed.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Gausman is so good, y'all. Just automatic.
I love the things he does.

It's basically fine statistically in that spot, for what it's worth. Grades out as -EV, but not by much, probably reasonably close to break-even with Springer up. Not something I'd make a habit of doing, but the Manfred Man is an edge case that improves the cost/benefit considerably over a traditional sac bunt, particularly playing at home.

I will say, though: for all of the talk about this team having better approaches, etc, we're actually striking out more and walking less than the 2022 Jays did, and the 2022 team was one of the more clutch teams in the league by situational wins. We're getting some otherworldly cluster luck at this moment, with a lot of that from the holdovers.

It’s baseball. Guaranteed W for Berrios.

Also crazy that we are 8–4 with a +3 run differential. We could be much further behind than 4 games. Gotta love those 1-run wins!

Or hey, let’s take a pitch or 2, and not force things against your average MLB reliever.

What's the running total Luis riveria costing runs, 2 runs? Not sending varsho last game and sending vladdy today

Prediction: Netting erected between the fans and the visitor's dugout in the next 2 weeks.

I hate how Kirk doesn't play in games he doesn't catch.

This. Kirk is an all star batter and should always bat. When Kirk is catching Belt can DH

Can't they switch berrios and bassists spots in the rotation for today's game? Monday was a day off.

the cheap(er) seats + beer + exposed bullpen area and players to rowdy fans = good idea

i mean the verbal abuse opposing teams are getting is nothing short of masterclass of trolling by Jays org. I bet teams are going to start complaining after a few go-arounds with the fans lol

that half full beer can last night into the bullpen was rediculous and unwarranted

Didn't want the Raptors season to end but at least now I can escape the toxicity of the Raptors board for the calmness of the Blue Jays board.

Yup. I'll check in there again around draft time. (Probably going to skip some of the draft lottery discussion, as it's just going to be the same loud voices yelling "WE SHOULD HAVE DONE WORSE" over and over and over, rather than any actual discussion.
