The Vegas roster has Wallace listed as 3B. Anyone know if he's going to play there, or is that just residue from where he played last year? Guess I'll find out soon enough either way.

Yeah he will be playing first for sure, excited to see how he can hit in the minors. Other names im going to be watching this year are, Arencibia (plate discipline), Jeroloman (offense), 3 pitchers in AA Stewart Drabek, and Collins, Sierra, (continued improvement), D'Arnaud, Alvarez, Jenkins, Pierre, Marisnick, and of course our new SS prospect that apparently just got his visa. Other guys that could surprise and have bounce back seasons are Jackson (who it looks like they are starting to move over to 3rd), Ahrens, and Cooper. Depending on how we do in the draft and what we can get for Overbay, Frasor, Downs, Gergg, Buck, and maybe Wells (please plase God) we could be looking at a decent crop of younger players all coming into the majors in the next 1-4 years.

Ahrens, Campbell and Sierra, among others, will start on the DL. Marisnick, Carlos Perez, KC Hobson and Gus Pierre will begin in extended Spring Training, and the team tries not to add their names to the graveyard of teenage flameouts. Not a tonne of promotions:

- Mike McDade will get a shot at Dunedin after a solid bounce-back year in Lansing;
- several of the 2009 kids (Ochinko, Goins, Schimpf) have reached low-A;
- Thames is getting aggressively promoted to AA, where he'll promptly injure himself;
- Drabek, Stewart and Bell comprise three-fifths of an extremely sexy rotation in AA;
- Alvarez was promoted to Dunedin;
- Jenkins will start in Lansing.

Travis D'Arnaud went 1-4 with a two-run HR for Dunedin.
The midget Ryans teamed up for a good night in Lansing...Schimpf 2-5 with a HR and 4 RBI, Goins 1-4 with a solo shot.
Eric Eiland basically has more hits in one game (three) than he had all of last year.

As happy as everyone is with the first 3 starts, I'm thinking later on we're going to need these kinds of starting pitching stat lines in the minors so we can all point to a silver lining for the year. Hopefully Mills crushes it this year, and outside of a 1st inning HR, Drabek's line looks very nice too.

D'Arnaud went deep for the second time, as he looks to be the only offense in Dunedin.

Chad Jenkins debuted, giving up 5 runs (only 3 earned) on 6 hits (one HR), with no walks and 4 Ks, and a GB:FB of 7:4. Not the greatest of starts by any means, but the peripherals aren't bad.

Eric Eiland continues to hit, as well...6-16 with two doubles (but 4 Ks). Obviously nothing to get excited about yet, but it would be nice if he could recover some of his status as a prospect.

And I will try to do the monthly roundups again this year, before inevitably giving up around July.

Emaus continues to hit as well, which is encouraging after the nice spring he had.

Looks like Tiny Tim had a good outing striking out all 5 in 1 2/3 innings in his debut after moving up to NH.

Looks like Tiny Tim had a good outing striking out all 5 in 1 2/3 innings in his debut after moving up to NH.

He did walk the first two batters he faced though which forced in a run although it wasn't one of HIS baserunners. He struggled a little bit after he made the jump to AA late last year but it was only twelve innings and understandable because for pitchers atleast the jump from A+ to AA is higher than any other promotion. I'm also curious to see his lefty righty splits this year, some people are saying he's nothing more than a LOOGY in the big leagues but i have higher expectations for him

Bobby Bell had his first start in New Hampshire, giving up four runs in five innings. The upshot is that he only had one bad inning, with two walks, two singles and two doubles leading to all of the runs.

Henderson Alvarez had a terrific first start in high-A: seven innings, two hits, two walks, three strikeouts, no runs, and a 13:3 GB:FB. He still won't turn 20 'til next week.

Meanwhile, Travis D'Arnaud had another very good game, going 3-4 with a double...he's essentially the only person in Dunedin doing anything with the bat at the moment. Pastronicky is 1-20 and Tolisano is 1-14 to lead the Parade of Fail.

D'Arnaud is killing it...4-6 with a double tonight, running his average to .423 (granted, only 27 PAs) and his OPS above 1.200. Pastronicky had a good game to push his average up to .138, and Andrew Liebel was his typical mediocre self.

Drabek had a fairly poor outing: 7 runs (4 unearned) in 5.2, 2 Ks and a tonne of baserunners. In other New Hampshire news, they've updated Tim Collins' picture, and while he looks less like a leprechaun now, he still looks pretty goofy:



That feathery mustache probably amounts to one-third of his body weight.

Yeah, don't know whether it's Cashman Playpen or his power is finally bursting on to the scene, but Wallace is mashing.

Fun fact: Bumgarner has given up 11 earned runs in 7 innings in AAA. He gave up 27 in 131 innings last year.
