Maybe AA is trying to get Francisco and Rauch included in the deal.

Uggg... if these rumors are true, I for one hope the Jays' aren't able to extend Dickey and the deal falls through. I think there's a high likelihood this deal would prove extremely lopsided in the Mets' favour for a decade or more to come. You don't trade an elite two-way catching prospect in AAA for a 38-year pitcher coming off a career year, especially when the existing major league catching situation is in need of an upgrade. Gahhh!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's d'Arnaud AND Gose... Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

So even if we overpay with d'Arnaud and throw in supporting prospects like Norris+ we won't get Harvey? Lay down the pipe.

You're the only one having a pipe dream.

But you don't have to give this much. You don't trade the organization's top prospect for a 38 year old with an unproven record.

People ripped the Royals for the Shields trade, but this is much worse.

Yup, at this point i'd rather sign Villanueva and then upgrade his spot around the All star break or deadline depending on who's available.

Except Dickey isn't unproven at all. He's been borderline-elite to elite for the past 3 seasons now.

Dickey won't be traded without an extension in place given he even voiced his displeasure of the process at a Hurricane Sandy charity event.

I doubt this will be a one-for-one.

Jeff Passan ?@JeffPassan
In other words, if this deal gets done, the Blue Jays are getting back a lot more than just R.A. Dickey on a one-year deal.

I wonder what "a lot more" is? a Bullpen arm or a backup OF is not a lot more if we're trading away TDA, Gose and god knows what else?

A picture of Dickey is up on the Jays site now, looks inevitable now.

I really hope it isn't TDA in this deal but ultimately if it is I can live with it if we are keeping Gose. If it is somehow both, we better be ridding ourselves of Lind and getting back Davis.

Sure we aren't exactly getting a guy who has 10 years left, but nonetheless he won the Cy Young last year. To think that type of player (despite age) wouldn't command a hefty price would be undervaluing the merit of being named the best pitcher in one's respective league. Personally, I'd rather keep d'Arnaud and look to sign Edwin Jackson or even to a lesser extent Shaun Marcum but you simply cannot fault AA for making such a move.

Why do you guys like Davis so much? He's terrible.

If we trade D'Arnaud and not get anything else good back, we'd better dump some of our contracts on them. This is ridiculous, I'd only trade D'Arnaud for someone like King Felix or David Price. This trade made his first blockbuster taste a lot more sour.

the proposed deal grew in size upon Toronto's willingness to include D'Arnaud, the game's best catching prospect.

If you tell me AA had a chance to deal a certain man named JPA instead but instead sacrifice our best prospect then I don't know what to say except the 4 letter word starts with F.

I don't think Jays need another rotation SP in Harvey. There's just no space.

Johnson
Dickey
Morrow
Buehrle
Romero

Sure, you can say Jays need pitching depth in case of injuries, but not young arms like Harvey that need a starting role to grow. Injury promoted SP are for the likes of CV and Happ, who really belongs in the bullpen and do spot starts. It's better off for the Jays to stash their young arms in low A who are 3-4 years away from big leagues. Look at how the Rays bring up their SP, let the young arms develop and dont rush them.

If things are being expanded then we must be getting Ike Davis as well.

What makes you think that could have been the case?
