I could see KC winning it all and then pull a Red Sox next season.

This is why you don't give up on a season and play for the 2nd wildcard. If KC and SF make it, that's the ultimate proof of the randomness of the playoffs.

How dumb are the Jays going to look if both the Royals and Giants make it to the WS?

No dumber than they'd look if they didn't. It's already well known that the playoffs are a complete random luckfest, 2014 is just a better example than usual.

I agree with above, I could definitely see the Royals winning it this year, and then not even sniffing the Playoffs next year. Really calls into question the proper way to build a franchise

The Giants winneryness is nothing to sneeze at. Down to their final strike, they work the count full and score on a wild pitch ball four from 2nd to tie it.

The Royals have a lot of young players so it's possible they could remain competitive if some of those players progress, but losing Shields will hurt them. Cleveland is probably the team to beat in that division going forward, with Detroit's window closing, but who knows. The Central never seems to be strong top to bottom in any given year.
I do think the Royals have the right idea with their defensive emphasis. The Jays will never have that as long as Reyes is at short, but they really need to improve defensively all around.

Showalter's Orioles down 3-0 to the Royals while losing each game by two runs or less?

Orioles getting badly out-winnery'd in this series. If there's ever a time to channel full winneryness mode, it's now.

The Royals better go on and win the whole thing. If they end up getting swept by the Giants or Cards in the WS it'll make this another Rockies type year.

I dunno...watching the Royals inexplicably win every game en route to the World Series, only to collapse in a heap of terrible managerial decisions and mediocre-again offense, would also have its merits.
**** your asterisk.

Yost is going to look like an even bigger buffoon when he goes back to managing NL style in the World Series.
