Here's a 2012 article about Mariano Rivera's injury which I didn't see posted:

The injury is comparable to Rivera's, in that it's to Stroman's push off (left) leg, not his planting (right) leg. Of course, the two pitchers were/are at opposite ends of their respective careers.
The Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo was 22 when he tore his right A.C.L. covering first base on May 1, 2008. Gallardo said he was told he would miss the rest of the season. Yet with Milwaukee pushing for the playoffs, he returned that Sept. 25, and started Game 1 of the National League division series. He said he did not do extra work beyond his regular rehabilitation.
Gallardo is still playing with >100 ERA+ stats most seasons. Was an all-star in 2010.
Chris Brock tore his A.C.L. in 1999 as a member of the San Francisco Giants after landing awkwardly on first base while running out a grounder. Brock, 29 at the time, said that he threw two more innings that day — “I said, ‘I got a lead, and I’m not coming out’ ” — and that he was throwing off a mound again just three and a half months later.
Brock was never a great pitcher, but he had his career best ERA+ of 108 the season after the injury, albeit with a FIP of 5.99, tossing up 2.0 HR/9.
