Berrios is a solid pitcher, but advanced metrics really don't like him that much, and he's an FA after next season. If we're giving up SWR+, that seems like a really questionable deal.

Edit: Martin and SWR? What in the absolute ****?

And now he has a massive amount of leverage in negotiating an extension, because we'd look like absolute idiots to trade that much for one year of his services.

It also, unfortunately, makes it much harder for us to acquire a SP with years of control in the offseason, without completely gutting the system...those were the two pieces we'd primarily have been relying on to do so.

There has to be more to this deal, don't get how we giving up 2 of our top 5-6 players, and 2 in the top 50.

Ruiz and Gray are both top 50 prospects. Fangraphs ranked them as the Dodgers' #1 and #2.

Whoops meant Padres in their deals they made last year/and this past off season.

Exactly my thoughts. Year in and year out the Yankees and Dodgers give up nothing to get these superstar additions and we had to give two top 5!?? As Schad said, even one is questionable but at least ya can rationalize that... Two? Why? Where was the bullpen additions two months ago when we were blowing games left right and center and the season still mattered? Why now and why at this price? **** Shatkins. What an awful deal.

Absolutely. You'd think that Martin + SWR would get you at least 90% of the way to a guy like Sandy Alcantara in the offseason, who has 3x as much control and is a better pitcher to boot. Even if you think this team has a good shot at the Wild Card, it's still just the Wild Card. This is egregious asset management.

lol. shatkins are basically on a countdown now. If they miss the playoffs, next year on, we are basically looking towards the repeat of last years of AA's stint. How much you want to bet that Rogers forced Shatkins to make a splashy move because of the return to TO(even though berrios is no better than Stroman who didnt even net them a single top 100 prospect at the time)? total ****.

Only thing i can think of is that, Jays know the control system is going to change in the upcoming CBA, and maybe rookies don't need as much service time?

SWR AND Martin available I'd figure they'd get a lot more than Berrios. Just wild stuff from the Jays. Man, this is really disappointing.
