Game is on Peacock in the US. They must have decided the Jays/Pirates rivalry was national tv worthy

That fly ball is caught if we have a decent outfield. Two runs on that.

That ball had a xBA of .180 feel bad for Ross that should've been an out.

Weird stat of the day: over our previous 12 games, we have a BB rate of 11.3% and a K rate of 17.8% (that would be the best in both departments over the course of a full year). We've also scored less than 4 runs/game over that stretch because our slugging percentage is Tapiaesque.

So for all the complaints about us being too free-swinging...maybe we should be swinging a little more freely?

Springer too hurt to pinch hit for Merrifield in this spot, it would appear.

You expect that kind of thing from Lourdes, but Merrifield is showing he's not cut out to be a CF still there.

Whit's route to the ball on that "double" was something there. I'd be surprised if they ever gave him another start in CF this season.

He looked to be trying to shoot it to the opposite side, which is a good idea if the ball is in the air, and a bad idea if you hit it 111 mph on the ground directly at someone.

Single, single, GIDP, single, single, absolute robbery. Don't know if you can get worse cluster luck than that.

.500. Though realistically, it's even higher than that given that the CF was playing straightaway (rather than shading left-center as you would against a lot of RHH).

With the way Vlad has(n't) been elevating the ball, you'd think he was taking hitting tips from Tapia.

He's hitting the ball on the ground quite a bit, and when you hit the ball as hard as Vlad does, that will result in quite a few double plays. He also had a wRC+ in the top 20 in baseball entering the day so it's not like he's been bad, just not MVP-calibre.

8 pitch PA for Oneil Cruz in which Phelps' sequencing was changeup, curve, changeup, changeup, curve, changeup, curve, curve. Yeah, that seems about right.

New strategy: don't hit the ball right at people. Or in the gaps where they can get to it. Better yet, just hit it over the fence.

The Pirates have the hardest-hit ball of the game: the Cruz HR. The Jays have the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th hardest-hit balls of the game.
