Maybe the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life on a diamond.

Edit: followed by a great thing. :-)

No idea what Whit was doing there. He either has to go home immediately and force a throw home (which would be far preferable to a double play) or at worst, stay at 3rd. You can't just start running after they throw to 2nd lol

So true. Practically, it’s going to work out similarly considering there would’ve been a double play and 2 out anyway. As it stands, Springer scored. The other way, Merrifield would have scored.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Rather a guy on third than first though.

The play there really is to start running after the groundball and force the throw home. You'd rather give up the base than the extra out. It's almost like Whit realized that too late and started running after the throw to 2nd.

100%. Contact play there when there’s even a risk of a double play. You usually score anyway. And if not, it’s not what we just saw lol.

Usually a team will take the double play in that spot and give up the run, yeah. And if they don't, great. We still have 2 guys on and 1 out.

Game 2 of the AL WC series.

Still, it's preferable to Cimber.
