Would you trade Vladdy for Tatis Jr?

Post#1 » by Raptors Realtor » Fri Sep 15, 2023 5:01 pm

Assuming neither the Jays or Padres win the World Series this season, and both teams are looking for a shakeup in the offseason... Is this a trade you'd consider?

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Yes.

His offence is way down this year too (pretty much identical production to Vladdy). Not sure if it's because he had to stop roiding or because of the time off. Obviously he gives you elite defence at a more premium position though, so he'll always have more value than Vladdy. Tatis is worth 4.4 fWAR this year to Vladdy's 0.5, despite both of them swinging a mediocre bat all season.

Having said that, he wouldn't help us immediately as this team can't hit.

We have a lot of internal options for 1B, we could realize acceptable production and defence from a platoon if necessary. We have no low cost options for an elite LF hitter, so yes

Pretty irrelevant because it would never happen. I am extremely interested to see what happens with Vlad's contract this off-season
