GT: Red Sox @ Blue Jays - Sept 15 - Sept 17

Post#1 » by Cyrus » Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:35 pm

Alright suckas, after hottie almost single handily destroyed the season, it looks like Cy has been called upon from the bullpen, just like the Raptors playoff days, to save the season. After the disaster Texas showing, Jays gonna need to basically go 12-5 in their last set of games, if they want to make it in as wild card team.

First game is today at 7pm - Discuss suckas!

I’ve always believed in you Cyrus.

Why do we Jays fans keep inflicting pain on ourselves?

The Blue Jays are second worst only to the Oakland Athletics w/ slugging % on middle-middle fastballs this year courtesy of Blake Murphy.

THis is what makes this team so frustrating this year. We SHOULD be good. We are good.

We just can't do it when it matters.

With all the head to head games in the West there is a decent chance 9-6 can get it done, although that is far from a "lock" target (we are in essence 2.5 games out of the playoffs right now, not that the 1.5 that is reported, due to the fact that we have no tiebreakers) This is probably the reason the "numbers" without considering momentum or eye test still see us at 33% chance to get in -- ( i.e. all the head to head in the West)

Personally I think we find a way to play meh enough to be in contention until the final day or two of the season -- where the final elimination game features a brutal baserunning mistake and a failed bases loaded situation with less than 2 out in the 7th, 8th or 9th.

Although batting AVG is not a great metric.
I think a better metric would be something like OPS+ where we are still pretty good at #8 (#11th in basic OPS), due to our lower than league average HR total.

But even with those rankings in OPS we are still just #16 in runs. Talks to our lack of clutch hitting, poor baserunning, lack of productive outs, and possibly poor managing moves or bad luck.

Fantastic start. 3 up 3 down with 3 morons flailing badly at the same pitches they've been flailing at for the past 4 games. Good thing John Schneider is "not concered". Let keep running out this same lineup that got embarrassed 4 games in a row. Because you know...eventually its gonna work right?

Massive missed call costs the Jays a double against them instead of a strikeout on a perfect pitch right over the plate. No response from the manager whatsover.

Why isn’t Chapman benched for Clement?

Standard 2023 Jays running into incredibly stupid outs on the bases for no reason. Schneider thinks it is fine.
