It doesn't though, because Baltimore also lost.

What we need is for one of them to get a sizable lead on the other. It doesn't *really* matter if it's Baltimore or Tampa that gets the lead, as long as it's out of range by the last series of the season.

It does as they’re still 3 games back in the loss column with something like 10 games to go, which is a fairly sizeable lead. If Baltimore has a decent week here, there’s a fair chance some or all of those last 3 don’t matter at all.

Ah fair. In my head, they were closer than that.

The whole MRI for Vlad and Vlad missing tonight’s game is a straight up cover for his idiot manager. Who wasn’t even paying enough attention to notice (or didn’t know how to deal with) Vlad loafing it up the line yesterday.

When asked if Vlad was hurt, he literally laughed at the question, and said no not at all, he’ll be good to go tomorrow. He’s a little “banged up“.

Well, the people in charge of optics probably didn’t think that made Vlad look very good. To the point that he gets a day off and a “MRI”. Management stuck up for their future superstar! Hey, hope springs eternal! “Knee soreness” :-?

He’ll be good to go tomorrow. But without any change in hustle, I’m sure.

They scratched him from the lineup less than an hour before game time after he struggled in BP. It's a real injury.

He looked like he was limping a bit on the way back to the dugout after his last at bat I think.

I'll take the BB if we can't hit to score any runs. Thanks, Yankees bullpen!

The two Tampa series worries me. Let's hope we sweep the Yankees tonight and when the come back to the Rogers Centre next week.

And so it begins. He wouldn't be the first overweight player to have premature knee injuries.

I'd be shocked if we don't sweep both series.

What options does an MLB team have to get fat players into shape? When guys like Jokic, Luka, Harden, etc. come into camp fat, they play themselves into shape as the season goes on. That obviously doesn't happen in baseball as it's a low intensity sport.

Damn, Vlad has gone from loved to hated so quick. He was starting to heat up a bit so we need him for this stretch.

Game 2 against the Yanks, No Vlad, No problem, Cy game thread abilities still carried the Jays to win. What will game 3 bring in store, we are playing against likely cy young winner - Garrett Cole, can the jays offense score enough against him, to give us our largest winning streak (6) since april, we shall soon find out.

The offence is going to go off today. Cole doesn't make it past the second inning.

No Vlad in the lineup and he's the only one who hits Cole. This is gonna be ugly.

We're obviously not scoring a single run against Cole, that is not in doubt. The only thing we CAN do is not give him 5 pitch innings. Our only hope to win this game is to take a bunch of pitches to drive up Cole's pitch count and get him out of the game by the 6th inning. That will give us 3 innings to get a few runs on their Bullpen. Hopefully Berrios gives up 2 runs or less today.

We've been pretty fortunate that hes been able to play as many games as he has given his weight. Unfortunately, gravity was going to take its toll on those knees eventually. Im honestly shocked this front office hasnt adressed his weight in the years hes been here. But then again we saw had badly they bungled the Manoah situation. And there is also Kirk in that group as well. If Vlad doesnt play again this year you know who to blame.
