Davis Schneider saved this team and put up like almost every position players season worth of fWAR in like 30 games and is now I guess permanently on the bench. While Matt Chapman and Whit Merrfield who have WRC+ sub 60 since May 1st get at bats.

Apparently the reason hes still in the lineup is because 3rd base is a "premium" position, much like Center Field in the outfield. As such, since he is basically the captain of the infield he is irreplaceable. At least that was the reasoning i heard on Blue Jays radio shows this morning when Chapman was brought up. If Chapman played any other position he would most likely not be in the lineup.

Personally, i dont really agree with this take. When you're desperate for runs, it doesnt matter how "premium" or important an infield position is. You need guys who can actually produce at the plate, especially when you're scoring literally ZERO runs a game.

Im sure there are people out there who can check his stats on how many runs Chapman prevented at his "premium" position compared to how many he has generated at the plate this year.

When he strikes out, that's not just an average run of the mill strikeout, that's a premium strikeout.

The guys from Buffalo injected some life into this comatose lineup, so naturally the manager couldn't wait to bench them for the likes of Crapman.

Yet another MLB journeyman scrub is about to shut them down. This offense is a complete disgrace.

I feel I could go out there with my 55 fastball and go 6 shut out innings against this lineup.

Chapman with RISP is the worst hitter I've ever seen.

if striking out was the goal of at bats, chapman would be a guaranteed hall of famer

Get Chapman off my team man, play Davis I'm so done with him. He's been a bottom 3 hitter since May 1st idc how much defense and base running he brings.

Just pitch right down the middle. No worries at all. lol. Pitchers are licking their chops when they see him coming up to bat.

It's like Chapman has one foot out the door. This guy doesn't care. He knows he's going to get his money somewhere else.
