Do they congratulate Parsons after the game?

They’re not gonna play Tampa because of this loss; that was the whole point of it.

Isnt Minnesota the tougher matchup?

Parsons doing exactly what we expected of him. I applaud the front office for calling him up. We needed to lose this game at all costs, and avoid Tampa and then Baltimore in the ALDS.

Yeah...thats exactly what the Leafs fans wanted last year. Remember "we want Flordia!"?

Karma is very real. You never try to tank your way to specific opponents. Let the chips fall where they may.

Because he’s a short reliever and they needed length. Also he’s not on the roster.

Could be but the Jays obviously don’t think so.

Doesn't guarantee anything but why wouldn't you take the weaker opponent?

Walk outside this forum and you'll find Jays fans are A LOT DIFFERENT and have much different opinions on this year's team than we do. I remember a few months ago on reddit I got downvoted HARD for simply pointing out how many of our top guys have struggled this season.

A different sport, but in the 2006 Olympics, Sweden tanked their final game to avoid Canada in the QF. It worked out well for them, and they won the Gold in Olympic hockey. A couple of Swedish players confirmed after the tournament that they pretty much tanked to avoid Canada. Trying to find an easier path to the title, is not bad karma. It is a smart play. Happened countless times in many sports throughout the years. Not Bad Karma, but Smart Karma.

It not working out is not a reason to not exercise judgement. If you can control who you face, do what you can to face the worse team/better matchup. The vast majority of time that factor in and of itself won’t be determinative, but you take every edge you can get.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Hell, just check the posts here from last year--many people here wanted to play the Mariners.

Are they weaker though? Tampa is pretty banged up all over. Minnesota has one of the best pitching staffs in the league. At least we know what to expect from Tampa having played them 6 times in two weeks. Minnesota is going to be a huge unknown for our hitters. Foresee us barely able to score 2 runs a game against them with our feeble offense.

Guys, karma isn’t actually a thing, there just are no locks in sports. We aren’t guaranteed to beat the Twins and Astros. But it’s a slightly better chance than beating the Rays and Orioles.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
