Yeah, similar stuff happened last year too.

IKF is awful. No idea what Atkins was thinking when he signed him.

It's going to be a long season if the brain trust gives no-bat IKF regular PT while guys like Clement and Schneider ride the pine. clement may be long-time fringe guy, but several reports suggest he's figured something out and may be a late bloomer. And obviously Schneider has some potential. IFK is not a starter.

Why is Schneider just a bench warmer now after what he did last season? Did he not show enough to be a regular?

He had a rough spring training, and also ended last year with a rough stretch offensively. I'm kind of surprised he didn't spend a month in Buffalo to start in order to get some regular playing time.

Clement on the other hand had a great spring, continuing on from his great 2023. It sucks to see him ride pine while IKF starts.

Remember when people said IKF was going to be a backup when he was signed. Maybe split time with Biggio at 3rd? Yeah right. I would have preferred to try to let Schneider find what he once had with regular time or see what Clement can do than signing IKF.

Defense only gets you so far when there are holes in the offense.

Literally 2 of the organizational top prospects are "bat-centric" 3rd basemen in Martinez and Barger with a 2024 MLB timeline. wtf are we doing. pick one.

We signed IKF to be a stopgap at 3B until one of the younger guys takes the job. I hated the signing, but can see the rationale. Now, arguably, Clement has won the job, so why isn't he getting PT? IKF is a black hole in the lineup - can't have a third of the regular lineup be IKF, Kiermaier, and Varsho.

Lol and of course Chapman and Teoscar are mashing the crap out of the ball. I dont care so much about Chapman since hes a 1 month merchant, but Teoscar's bat is sorely missed.

Why then isn't IKF a 1 year deal with a team option?

Wasn't the original plan to move Kikuchi to the HOU series to avoid the RH heavy bats of Tampa?
