I don't see how this team avoids the lottery.

You do realize that this basic lineup was on a 48 win pace in the strike shortened season, do you think they have gotten worse since then?

Currently this is how I see the West....

Clearly better than the Nuggets... SA, OKC

Likely better than the Nuggets.... HOU, LAC, POR, GS? (GS only won 51 games)

On Par with the Nuggets....PHX, DAL, MEM

It won't be easy to to crack the top 8 but if we can get back to winning at least 30 games at home I like our chances.

Personally I am not so sure that the Rockets or Portland are better than the Nuggets right now.

Nuggets Off-Season to-do list.

Post#164 » by RRFB » Mon Jul 14, 2014 3:48 pm

I feel like Dallas is the only team in the top half of the West that clearly got better. Houston and Phoenix got worse, everyone else more or less stayed the same.

Most "experts" will probably group the Nuggets in with Memphis, Phoenix, and New Orleans but I think we're better than all of them. If we stay healthy and return to being dominant at home, I could see us finishing ahead of Dallas and Portland, and potentially even GS and Houston.

Only teams, that are really better from us are SAS, OKC and LAC(just because of Doc...), every other team, if we are healthy, we can play against them for POs...We are almost 3 deep at every position, so i guess we make some trades to make room for Harris and Miller(at 4 maybe??), and if we sign Mike Miller, we will have to trade Chandler, so i guess something for Love or LMA could be in play, or some good C, because those are only positions i could see that we need some upgrade on...You can't get CP or Westbrook or James or Durant, so i'm ok with Ty and Gallo there..Also i don't think we can get better team player at 2 than AAA is, it's better to have him, than some "superstar" that will only look at his stats..Atleast we know he wants to be here, he did sign extension last time, right??That being said, only position we could use some upgrade are PF(i don't know why Faried isn't signed yet, they got into contract negotiations 2 weeks ago i think) and C(Al Jef would be nice if we could get him, or Al Horford)

Al Jefferson and lma are not available

Horford or love could be but love won't sign with us.

Maybe horford or hibbert?

i'd like greg monroe. solid stats and younger than horford, with seemingly no injury problems.

I like Monroe too just want to see what Faried is going to bring to the table before I replace him, he did just get voted onto the US Nat'l team. As for HOU, Ariza was just signed and he provides a great defensive presence, a definite upgrade IMO. POR adds Blake and gets McCollum back and has another year of stability together, chemistry never hurts a young team.

Ariza is a marginal upgrade if he plays as he did last year, the problem is that this is the 2nd time in his career he has had a mysterious jump in productivity, of course both just happen to be contract years. Also he is not good enough to overcome the loss of Asik, Lin, Casspi, Garcia, in other words pretty much their entire bench,

Do not get me wrong I think Portland is a good team, however I still believe a healthy Denver is the better team.

Anthony Randolph is available if we need help in the post...:)

I wonder how we would have offered Bosh any sort of deal... Maybe a sign and trade involving Faried?

I'd assume Gallo, McGee would be involved if he was after the max.

So, if you had to trade one, who would you trade and why......Foye or Nate ?

I like both guys off the bench, Nate being the more explosive while Foye is consistent and a better defender. Both can play the point although neither has real great PG skill sets. I think Nate would bring a better return because of his scoring outbursts, but Foye is the better vet IMO.

Thoughts ?

Actually I would trade both, and resign Brooks and pick up a 3rd PG from the Dleague or somewhere.

I think you're undervaluing Foye. Every team seems to want a sharpshooting veteran off the bench these days. If he was a free agent this summer, he'd probably be getting paid twice as much as what we're paying him.

Nate likely has very little, if any value. If any other team in the league was interested in him, I doubt he'd be a Nugget right now.

I get that Felton vibe I get from Foye.

Get a feeling that he's going to eventually complain about not being a starter, it was the only reason why he signed here.

We need as many 3 point specialists as possible for our offense to be at it's best. With Gallo back it will be nice to have at least two guys on the court who will strecth the perimiter and clear room for Ty to attack.

I would prefer to keep Foye as a back up for a while. Maybe with more teams guarding us closer on the perimiter it will allow McGee to get into more one on one situations.

Gotta think the next order of business is to sign Nurkic, he's done with the U20 league, right ?

It was a sign and trade after he agreed to terms on a contract here. It was completely his choice to come to Denver.
