What are the chances he will make it to NBA All Star - Rising Stars Challenge?

He knew what to do instantly! Next day he went to Tuzla and met with Nurkic’s father. The only thing he asked him was: “Do you have a son?” Jusuf Nurkic was at that time a 14 years old boy and never trained basketball. Enes Trnovcevic took him to Slovenia and gave him an opportunity he accepted and used.

Just wow! This kid is something special and I personally can't believe how much progress he has made only in those few months in the NBA.

In a defeat against NBA champions, San Antonio Spurs, Jusuf Nurkic scored 10 points, grabbed 9 boards and had 2 assists. One more good performance, this time versus NBA champions!

One thing he said is true, rookies don't get respect by their play from the refs, they continue to get ticky-tac fouls....seems the more playing time he gets, the more respect (and calls) will go his way from said refs.

Interesting ...The Nuggets go from being one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA when he's off the floor -- with a defensive rating of 110.5 that would be 30th among all NBA teams -- to one of the best when he's on it. Denver's 99.9 defensive rating with Nurkic on the floor would be good for sixth in the league.

Not surprised, what does surprise me is that Shaw doesn't seem to know this...isn't he the one who preaches DEFENSE ??

Shaw has preached defense since he has been here, but continued to overplay guys like Hickson who are terrible defenders and have less of an effect on the game then their numbers indicate.

I heard a rumor that the Nuggets brought in Dave berri (inventor of win shares) to consult a few weeks ago, if you look at win scores it is a stat based on stats and is imperfect especially when measuring defense. Hickson actually grades out better than Nurkic when looking at win shares, in fact the 5 that Shaw likes to finish the game with are the top 5 on the team, to bad the stat is flawed enough that it seems like the closing lineup is responsible for about half of the losses on the team.

I don't enjoy defending Shaw but have you ever thought Nurkic averaging 7.2 fauls per 36 might to do something with his playing time?

shaw finally allowed Nurkic to finish a game and the Nuggets break their 7 game winning streak, prior to that Hickson was being torn up in the middle with the lead down to 1.
