Nikola Jokic FMVP

Post#364 » by THE J0KER » Thu Jun 1, 2023 5:59 pm

Jokic's production => Nikola Jokic MVP => Nikola Jokic FMVP

I think it is a perfect time for another title change for this main Jokic thread.

Jokic is on a history-making mission during the 2023 playoff!

skywalker33 wrote:There has been noticeable drop-off in Jokic's play since the return of Millsap to the lineup. Certain posters have been blaming Malone as the cause of this drop-off, claiming he is favoring Millsap or even trying to sabotage his career, which I thoroughly scoff at. Here's a direct quote from Malone on/to Jokic about his production.

“Nikola is still the focal point of our offense,” Malone said. “I don’t want Nikola thinking that he has to play second fiddle to anyone. … I want him to shoot the ball more and be more aggressive.”

Even though his ppg is down, it's because he is taking less shots. This was clearly noticeable in the first part of the season as well. I attribute to being Jokic to "blame"....but not in a bad way. I believe Nikola himself is deferring to try to acclimate Millsap back into the offense, a self sacrifice of sorts, showing how unselfish he is. I also believe he has to learn to incorporate his own game back into the offense to continue the amped-up offense we have come to appreciate, it's just a matter of adjustments that I'm sure will come.

Skywalker noticed a trend we are seeing even today. This is from 5 years ago. We have always known that Jokic is special and the world is beginning to notice now.

I can’t see any way Joker doesn’t win this award, most dominant player on the planet, especially including Philadelphia

Congrats! Fantastic to see a team without a championship finally get one!

Congrats. Was rooting for Jokic after he beat LA. What an amazing run you had.

Still cant believe Marc Jackson didn't have him on his regular season MVP award.

What a foreshadowing image!
Nikola Jokic as a 5 years old, in Nuggets shirt, holding tennis racket.
Nuggets shirts in Serbia were extremely rare. I never saw anyone wears one.
So, that kid on the picture becomes best player for Nuggets, wins with them them a first ring in history, becomes finals MVP.
And all that at the same time when Novak Djokovic becomes most successful tennis player in history (this is why 5 year old Nikola holding racket on that picture makes this even more crazy).

Congratulations Nuggets fans. Great team, great fanbase led by an all-time great player in Jokic and a rising star in Murray. Similar stretch that we had just recently. Superstar emerges, gets two MVPs, has a few playoff setbacks, team gets healthy and everything comes together for a deep run and a Finals win.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Most consistently great player, alongside prime MJ, in the past 40 years:

Here's proof:

Including the playoffs, last 4 seasons:

Jokic basically NEVER has a bad game! Game Score of 10 is league average, 20 is great, 30 is outstanding, 40 is ATG.

https://www.omnicalculator.com/sports/game-score

Last 4 seasons, including playoffs:

1. Jokic: 82 games Game Score 30+, 3 games with a Game Score 10 or less!! 27:1 ratio of outstanding games to bad games.

2. Embiid: 62 games Game Score 30+, 13 games 10 or less. 4.8:1 ratio of outstanding games to bad games.

3. Doncic: 55 games Game Score 30+, 16 games 10 or less. 3.4:1 ratio of outstanding games to bad games.

4. Giannis: 59 games Game Score 30+, 11 games 10 or less. 5.4:1 ratio of outstanding games to bad games.

Not exactly a small sample size, 4 seasons including playoffs.

Jokic is one of the greatest few players of the past 45 years, and, one of the top few most skilled and valuable, also.

Comparing this to other peak 4 season spans of superstars of the past (Game Score calculable and sortable back to 1983-1984):

1. LeBron James (2007-2008 through 2010-2011): 79 games Game Score 30+, 11 games 10 or less. 7.2:1 ratio of outstanding games to bad games.

2. Michael Jordan (87'-88' through 90'-91'): 152 games Game Score 30+, 5 games 10 or less. 30:1 ratio.

3. Larry Bird (84'-85' through 87'-88'): 63 games Game Score 30+, 10 games 10 or less. 6.3:1 ratio.

4. Magic Johnson (86'-87' through 89'-90'): 62 games 30+, 17 games 10 or less. 3.6:1 ratio.

5. Shaquille O'Neal (98'-99 through 01'-02'): 55 games 30+, 10 games 10 or less. 5.5:1 ratio.

I like the analysis, but considering only point is not fair to Jokic. He brings so much more to the table that his impact in points is not his major influence to obtain a Win.

Furthermore considering only points could overrate the influence of other players. I am sure Harden had a great ratio between 2016 to 2020, and we all know what kind of player he is

Game Score is not just points, though. It encompasses a ton, actually.

https://captaincalculator.com/sports/basketball/game-score-calculator/

For what it’s worth, In the years that you named, Harden’s ratio of outstanding games (93) to poor games (20) was 4.6:1.

Jokic is approaching a 30:1 ratio the past 4 seasons. That indicates he’s the most consistently great offensive player, alongside Michael Jordan, since 1983-1984.

Dejan Milojević, Steve Kerr's assistant, passed away. Along with Malone, he is the only head coach who has ever worked with Jokic during Nikola's professional basketball career.

He was also a notable player in Serbia and Europe with often monstrous statistics even though he was extremely undersized for a center, *fat* and slow, non-athletic guy (Serbian version of Charles Barkley), who relied mostly on his BBIQ. It goes without saying that someone like that was the perfect person to steer young Nikola in the right direction.

Jokic spoke highly of him, that's good enough for me
