Kerry Wood 20 strike out highlights

How filthy was his stuff that day?

I don't think I have ever seen a more dominant performance in baseball like Wood was that day. He didn't throw a no hitter or a perfect game, but the hitters didn't even come remotely close to touching any of his pitches that day. Also, the only hit was a questionable one it probably should have been an error.

It was against a good lineup as well (Biggio, Bell, Bagwell, Everett, Alou).

20 K's 0 walks that day.. Ridiculous.

One that sticks out to me is Clemens against Seattle in the 99 (ithink) ALCS. One hit shutout.

Those second and penultimate K's are sublime. The rest weren't half shabby either.

Dusty Baker owes this man a career.

I agree.. But I also believe his problems started way earlier in his career.

He once pitched both games of a double header in high school.

And yeah the 19th strike out might be the most ridiculous pitch ever thrown.

Ben Sheets' 18K performance was pretty nice too. But that was dominant.

you got that right. that pitch started out over the outer half of the plate and ended up in the left handed batters box. the astros didn't have a chance that day.

That had to be the nastiest slider I have ever seen @ 1:19.

Wood + Prior = What Could Have Been.

What could have been? Look at his motion, he turned his arm out then in again when he delievered the pitch. He was on a road to injury, it's really the Cubs pitching coach fault. They should have changed his delivery.

As good as Wood was, I think Prior was even better.

It's a shame that both of their careers are pretty much ruined.
