Over/Under Challenge

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Thu Jul 30, 2015 11:21 pm

Here are the current over/under odds. Reply with your over or under for each team and I will tally at the end of the season to see who wins...the big prize of a bunch of And1's from all that participated.

You can change your picks up until opening day and at that point I will quote your post to lock it in. Have at it!

Also, it appears the Pats are currently off the board in some or all places, but we will stick with this number.

If you only bet the under on every NYC area sports team (MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA) you would win 78% of the time over the last 12 years. Giants are 3-8-1, Jets are 4-7-1 which is actually the most "overs" of any of the teams. Knicks are 1-11, haven't come within 5 wins of the over more than half the time.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

OK, I guess I wasn't anticipating people calling a push. If you call over or under and it pushes, you will get a tie. If you call push and it pushes, you get a point (or win). I will tally it like W/L/T. If you call push and it goes over or under, you will get a loss for that pick.

I'm just feeling 11 wins for both those teams, not 10, not 12.

I get ya. In football, one win or loss is more meaningful in the grand scheme of things, so it makes sense. That's exactly why they put the line at that number, because they likely felt if they put it a half spot higher or lower, the book could get screwed by people betting the other way. The bookies would typically rather put every line at a .5 to get fewer pushes, but they obviously felt it wasn't safe to do so in some cases.

AFC East

New England Patriots -- 10.5
OVER, still think they'll go 11-5 or better especially once Brady returns.

Miami Dolphins -- 8.5
UNDER, they've been 8-8 the last two years and I think the Bills and Jets will improve.

Buffalo Bills -- 8.5
OVER, theyre my sleeper pick to make the playoffs.

New York Jets -- 7.5
UNDER, they'll improve but still be a really bad team.
(Total: 35)

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens -- 9
OVER, theyre a threat to win it all. Talented, well coached, and experienced.

Pittsburgh Steelers -- 8.5
OVER, Big Ben could have an MVP season.

Cincinnati Bengals -- 8.5
UNDER, no playoff disappointment this time because they won't even make it.

Cleveland Browns -- 6.5
UNDER, no way that team wins 7 or more games.
(Total: 32.5)

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts -- 11
OVER, I think they end up with a first round bye. They've improved every year.

Houston Texans -- 8.5
UNDER, they have 8-8 written all over them.

Tennessee Titans -- 5.5
UNDER, my pick to finish with the worst record in the league.

Jacksonville Jaguars -- 5.5
OVER, slightly, I think they go 6-10.
(Total: 30.5)

AFC West
Denver Broncos -- 10
OVER, this one is tough, but I think with Manning they'll still win 11+.

Kansas City Chiefs -- 8.5
OVER, still enough talent and well coached to win double digit games. They could regress and still finish 9-7.

San Diego Chargers -- 8
UNDER, I don't think they're as good as KC or Denver and Oakland has improved.

Oakland Raiders -- 5.5
OVER, I think they can manage 6-10. Lot of good young talent.
(Total: 32)

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys -- 9.5
OVER, really well balanced offense and the D gets some injured guys back. Could win the NFC.

Philadelphia Eagles -- 9.5
UNDER, too many good players lost and too many question marks.

New York Giants -- 8.5
UNDER, Coughlin finally retires at season's end after another mediocre season.

Washington Redskins -- 6.5
UNDER, I have no faith in the offense. D will improve enough to finish 5-11 or 6-10 though.
(Total: 34)

NFC North

Green Bay Packers -- 11
OVER, Rodgers will have another awesome year and the division is weak.

Detroit Lions -- 8
UNDER, I think they fall off without Suh.

Minnesota Vikings -- 7.5
OVER, my sleeper NFC playoff pick. Tough young D and they get Peterson back.

Chicago Bears -- 7
UNDER, lol 7 wins, they could finish 4-12.
(Total: 33.5)

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons -- 8.5
-OVER, new coach will revitalize them, and still a lot of talent on offense.

New Orleans Saints -- 8.5
-UNDER, Brees is declining and they lost Graham.

Carolina Panthers -- 8.5
-UNDER, they just smell like 8-8 this year.

Tampa Bay Bucs -- 6
-UNDER, they'll improve but still finish with 5 or fewer wins.
(Total: 31.5)

NFC West
Seattle Seahawks -- 11
OVER, still the best and most talented team in the league.

Arizona Cardinals -- 8.5
OVER, love their D and I think Palmer stays healthy(healthier I guess).

St. Louis Rams -- 8
UNDER, not sold on Foles or their offense, but they'll be a tough 7-9.

San Francisco 49ers -- 7.5
UNDER, I think they bottom out completely.
(Total: 35.5)

AFC East
New England Patriots -- 10.5 - Over
I was going to go under because of how much worse their secondary got but then I looked at their schedule. Even if they go 2-2 while Brady is suspended I think they can easily go 9-3 the rest of the way.

Miami Dolphins -- 8.5 - Over
I think they're right around 9-7 this year.

Buffalo Bills -- 8.5 - Over
Also have them at 9-7.

New York Jets -- 7.5 - Under
If this was 3 points lower I'd still probably take the under.

(Total: 35)

AFC North
Baltimore Ravens -- 9 - Over
Have both Baltimore and Pittsburgh right around 10-6.

Pittsburgh Steelers -- 8.5 - Over
See above.

Cincinnati Bengals -- 8.5 - Under
I think they go 8-8 and Dalton looks more like his playoff self than regular season self.

Cleveland Browns -- 6.5 - Under
They could win their first 3 games and still finish way under.

(Total: 32.5)

AFC South
Indianapolis Colts -- 11 - Over
Think they get the 1 seed in the AFC this year.

Houston Texans -- 8.5 - Over
They play a lot of weak QB's that I think their defense will carry them to 9-7.

Tennessee Titans -- 5.5 - Under
I can barely name anyone on Tennessee. I think they're 5-11 at best.

Jacksonville Jaguars -- 5.5 - Under
Basically the same thing for Jacksonville.
(Total: 30.5)

AFC West
Denver Broncos -- 10 - Over
I actually think this is a push but I'll go over for making scoring easier.

Kansas City Chiefs -- 8.5 - Over
I think they barely finish over .500 at 9-7.

San Diego Chargers -- 8 - Over
Also have them at 9-7 but this could easily be a push.

Oakland Raiders -- 5.5 - Over
Could be a surprise team to reach .500 but they need a lot to go right for them.

(Total: 32)

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys -- 9.5 - Over
I think they're the only decent team in this division and go at least 10-6.

Philadelphia Eagles -- 9.5 - Under
I think they're 8-8 at best.

New York Giants -- 8.5 - Under
They're right around where they have been the last few years which is a 7 or 8 win team.

Washington Redskins -- 6.5 - Under
If RG3 plays as well as his rookie season, they could be an 8 or 9 win team. If he plays as bad as the last few seasons, this is a 4 or 5 win team.

(Total: 34)

NFC North
Green Bay Packers -- 11 - Over
I think week 2 against Seattle decides if they get the 1 seed in the NFC or not.

Detroit Lions -- 8 Over
This could easily be a push but I think their offense is good enough to win 9 games.

Minnesota Vikings -- 7.5 - Over
I think they get the second wildcard spot and finish at least 9-7.

Chicago Bears -- 7 - Under
They have a very hard schedule and could be 1-5 going into their bye. I'm not sure they even get to 6 wins.
(Total: 33.5)

NFC South
Atlanta Falcons -- 8.5 - Under
I think they struggle some under a new coach and finish around 7-9.

New Orleans Saints -- 8.5 - Over
I think last year was more of a fluke and they finish at least 9-7 even without Graham.

Carolina Panthers -- 8.5 - Over
They're an 8 or 9 win team and I'll say 9.

Tampa Bay Bucs -- 6 - Under
This is also a push for me because they barely play any good defenses the entire year.
(Total: 31.5)

NFC West
Seattle Seahawks -- 11 - Over
Even if Seattle loses to Green Bay they can still win 12 games this year.

Arizona Cardinals -- 8.5 - Over
I'm surprised this is so low. Ryan Lindley isn't starting for them anymore. They're an 11 win team if Palmer stays healthy.

St. Louis Rams -- 8 - Under
St. Louis traded a mediocre QB who can't stay healthy for a mediocre QB who can which is I guess an improvement, but I still don't think they finish .500

San Francisco 49ers -- 7.5 - Under
I think they'll have enough pride to not bottom out like a lot of people think but I still don't think they'll finish much better than 6-10.
