Listening to a podcast discussion. They say for whatever reason, people enjoy it when Russell is struggling.

Apparently Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch mocked him in a podcast recently.

Why the hate or the scorn at least?

Is it that he chose to have a relatively high profile life off the field and put it out there on social media and such?

Players on that team felt Russ got preferential treatment. It's pretty evident that some of the guys like Sherm & Doug Baldwin don't like him. They're not friends.

Here you got 3 former NFL players laughing at all of this.

I honestly think people just hate obvious frauds. And the whole Wilson persona he puts on is so fraudulent. His act is so corny, its like he tries to come off as the over the top corny football players you see in movies. And I think he has 2 things going against him now.

1. He's not winning. Whenever you win and you portray yourself this way, people think it doesnt hurt the team and its more for fun. But when you start losing, its just a bad awkward look.

2. The fact that its a well known secret that he isnt anything close to how he portrays himself. He tries to portray himself as this ultimate team first, raw raw guy. But in reality he demands special treatment, the only way teammates can get a hold of him is they have to contact his manager first.

So ya its just one of those moments where everyone pretty much knew he was a fraud but put up with it because he was winning. Now he's not winning, people are having a blast watching his hype train go down in smoke.

So to what extent did Russ' extension cause the Broncos to trade away Chubb?

Maybe the Broncos would never have given Chubb the extension that the Dolphins just gave him.

But a 26-year old former #5 pick of the draft, thought he's had two major injuries already.

But that extension probably limits their flexibility.

This is how big contracts to QBs, weaken the rest of the roster.

Edit: I got Ridley and Jeudy mixed up. Jeudy isn't up for a new contract for another year or two.

Maybe he will put up numbers that make him expensive, maybe he won't.

They traded Chubb because they didn't have draft picks. Less to do with money. More to do with a lack of draft capital.

Chubb is good. But not an elite pass rusher. Getting a 1st for him is a great move.

Haha I find it hilarious that people aren’t even trying to hide their shots at Wilson. That dude has to be one of the most hated teammates in the NFL.

I think it's fair to say that one of the biggest knocks on Russ is that he isn't great at identifying defensive tells pre-snap. Which would often get him into trouble. He wouldn't recognize when the defense would disguise an exotic blitz of some kind. It's always been an element of his game that I thought was somewhat lacking. In my opinion Geno has been much better in this regard. By often making the right checks at the line based on how the defense is aligned. That has been one of the biggest improvements this year with him under center. The other being that Geno tends to get the ball out quicker. Russ has always relied more on his scramble ability to get himself out of trouble. But as he has aged that's become less reliable.

He comes off so insanely contrived and disingenuous. As an extremely cynical person who can usually see through BS pretty easily, I would have written him off after the first "let's ride." What a load of horse sht.

Ngl Russ was really fun to watch as a fan for a lot of years. But he changed over time. His first few years in the league he really didn't give off any weird vibes. But then he became more of a celebrity & It no longer appeared to be just about Football when he got together with Ciara.

I honestly was ready to move on from him this offseason. But I didn't think that Pete would actually pull the trigger. That's why I was so sure that he wasn't going to get moved. I figured him & Pete we're tied together & would somehow make it work.

Oh ya I basically only watch him prior to the draft to get a deeper dive on the QB prospects. Plenty of tape and good analysis. Very good channel.
