Guard

You might be right. Something tells me Harbaugh wants to bring back and old fashion smash mouth running team. Keeps Mahomes on the sidelines for 7-8 minutes a drive. Keeping Mahomes off the field is a good thing.

OL, DL, and RB. That will likely be the focus for Harbaugh.

They lost both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this off season. I can't see them ignoring that position.

I can... WRs have become way too expensive and Harbaugh is gonna prefer to run the ball. Herbert should be good enough to throw to some nobodies.

I'm not saying Harbaugh won't emphasize the running game like he did at Michigan.

But he supposedly raved about Herbert before he was even hired by the Chargers.

I remember that he gave the job to Kaepernick and didn't give the starting position back to Alex Smith. Kaep got touches because Smith got injured.

He was also raving about Kaep in that draft class.

So there were times when he really let Kaep throw it. He didn't go run heavy and there would be beautiful games like against the Patriots on a MNF when Kaep lit them up.

They didn't go empty backfield but they took shots with Vernon Davis and Delaney Walker. They really didn't have an over the top vertical threat at WR.

They didn't have a great pass catching back either.

I'm not saying Harbaugh will let Herbert go empty backfield most of the game, starting with the first game of this season.

But for people assuming that he will try to rebuild what he had at Michigan, I"m saying don't be surprised if he goes more towards the NFL game, which is downfield passing, not downhill running. That works to a certain extent, like the Titans with Henry. But they hit a ceiling.

So he may adopt for this second shot at the NFL.
