He's gone this offseason. No chance they bring him back now.

This also means they have to draft a quarterback early, they cant afford to have a veteran come in

As it turned out, better to work the ball down the field to tie the game.

Jeudy isn't a 50-50 guy. That would be Sutton. But he was out. Denver currently just doesn't have a ton of difference makers on that side of the ball. Javonte Williams doesn't seem to be the same player since the injury. He looks like he's moving in quicksand.

My point is that 50-50 isn't a high probability pass play except maybe with a handful of big WRs and TEs.

They had better luck with several 10-15 yard gains and moving down the field.

Though I guess if a team struggles in the red zone, they might try for a long pass play against single coverage.

after all the bonuses are gone his salary is only 17 mil for 2024 right? someone should take that for 2nd rounders, maybe Commanders can use him as a bridge quarterback.

Was it Elway who gave him this big contract?

I guess they saw Brady play to over 40 and Rodgers have MVP seasons in his mid to late 30s and figured Russell could still have big seasons into his mid 30s.

I don't know what their line is like but they probably thought their defense was going to be great so Wilson would only have to produce a couple of TDs and some FGs to win games.

I don’t think a QB has to be drafted at the top of the 1st round anymore to have best chance at success. If the Broncos can put a solid team together they could realistically still draft a QB in the middle rounds and have him be successful.

I could be wrong but I think the receiving team would only have to take about half the remaining guaranteed money.

Denver is on the hook for all of the guaranteed money. The team who trades for him would be on the hook for his base salary.

That's still a good chunk of money. Denver is going to have to release him at this point. Unless he agrees to restructure it.

I just checked and there is $17 million guaranteed salary that would move to the new team. So probably would cost a 3rd rounder for a team to take that.

Normally sure but the situation here is little bit different, they likely need this guy to be ready to play from day one. There is no waiting behind a veteran for couple weeks to get acclimated, and ready to plug in quarterbacks rarely fall to mid rounds.

Or maybe they know something about Stidham that I dont know.

2024: $17,000,000
2025: $37,000,000
2026: $40,000,000
2027: $44,000,000
2028: $50,000,000

It makes more sense for a team to wait for him to hit the market. Then sign him to something with a ton of incentives & clauses.

George Paton is the gm who made the trade. Elway was the team President/advisor on his way out.

I'm talking about an Osweiler situation, when the tanking Browns took a 2nd rounder from the Texans just to absorb his contract.

But that only saves the Broncos $17 million of an $85 million cap hit.

If the Broncos would want to dump more of Russ's contract it would require a restructure first and he will likely only agree to that if he can control where he's going.

Would New Orleans rather have Carr than Wilson? Does Denver do that? I think this is the level of quarterback Wilson is now. Denver probably looked at some numbers/tape and decided they're not totally buying how good Wilson's numbers are this year.

There are several teams which need a QB or has an unsettled situation.

If Russ decides just to collect the guaranteed money owed to him, he could walk away with generational wealth.

Then he could enjoy life off the field, which he supposedly does already.

So QB Whisperer Payton has thrown his hands up, isn't going to fix Russell?

When the threat was made by the Broncos, the team, Wilson's camp, the NFLPA, and another unknown party were involved in negotiations that ended with no change in Wilson’s contract

Another unknown party? Lamar's mom?

Lol that **** never gets old. He dumped her right before his first big contract. There we're also rumors that she was cheating on him. Then within a year, Ciara came into the picture.
