I reckon we get 3 and that may not be the worst outcome with this draft

We have a 48 percent chance at the 5th pick.

It is more likely than any other outcome, though slightly less likely than not.

I've always thought these "predict the randomness" threads are a little silly.

I think this is the year we get a top 3 kissing any chance of a top 3 in 2025 goodbye

Which also isn't how it works.

Unless, again, you believe it isn't random.

Eh. There’s old rich dudes losing out if it’s rigged too.

My policy always is simple. Never attribute to conspiracy that which can be explained without it.

He is projected as a late lotto pick and he has basically zero offensive ability. Great man-to-man against 1-4's, elite weak-side D, elite against P&R. Such a unique player at 6-8 with the swarming help D/recovery and crazy athleticism. But yeah, the issue is he has no offensive game to speak of. If he could hit 3's he'd be top-5 easily.

6'8" with zero offensive ability you say? Sound like the worm!

If we didn't just draft Ausar you could perhaps go out and get someone like this... but it really hurts to play a guy like this when we've got guys who aren't bucket getters already all over the roster.

For sure. If we didn't have Ausar I'd be all for trying to trade down for Dunn and another pick. But we really cannot afford to draft anyone that you can't at least project as being a solid shooter if we think Ausar is a big part of the future. He really has less offense than Ausar does by a large margin.

Dunn's path to NBA success most likely comes from him becoming some sort of strange small ball 5 next to a shooting big

Couldn't care less where we end up, not getting #1 last year changed the course of the franchise forever and this looks to be one of the worst ever.

Like some others have alluded to, this year I'm personally numb to the draft lottery results.

Seeing as how the general consensus is there are no tiers even in its most rudimentary form at the top of this draft, there is a small part of me that kind of doesn't even want the #1 pick.

If this is a draft where you will be required to rely on your scouting and will come down to one of those beauty is in the eye of the beholder type of decisions, then I don't have any confidence that Detroit is going to make a good choice. If I'm being honest, I would expect them to make a bad selection.

In any event, I'm not going to have a discernible emotion + or - regardless of which envelope Detroit's logo is in.

I remember when many said, "Lou Dort can't shoot" and now he shoots 40% from 3... A great defender got that way from working hard. You don't think they'll work on other parts of their game? I'll take a guy like that over a great offensive player who sucks on defense any day

Lu Dort came into the league as a 30% guy who took 175 threes in his one year in college. Dunn shot 20% last year and only took a total of 35. Dunn also shot very poorly from the line compared to Dort.

Dort becoming a reliable 40% shooter is more like the chances Ivey gets to that level coming from a steaky shooter in the low/mid 30’s. Dunn is more like the chances Ausar or Duren gets there from being total non-threats from 3.

I think even though getting the #1 pick is clearly less important this year than other drafts it will still be nice to end up with it, even if only because it would have more value if we were looking to trade for someone or if a team drafting below us becomes enamored with a player and wants to trade up we can always trade down and pick up some assets.

That said, I've mentally prepared myself that we're getting the 5th pick and anything better than that will be a bonus.

Raptors might be losing a top 10 pick over Poeltl

I'm rooting for that one. :P

Wouldn't mind getting the #1 just because I'd like Sarr, but not a killer if we don't.

I don't see his name anywhere on this list

I just hope the #1 pick doesn't have the front office thinking we need to keep it.
