For the record I would rather have had Ty Jerome then either of them, I think hes still trending upward vs Lavert and NAW. Oh well, lets see what else is in store.
Sir all that "traceable contract" talk is warped bs thinking fans have adopted recently and it's stupid. He's mid 20s so you expect him to perform at the same level the next 4 years. So if he's worth $15 million today, he'll be worth it in 3 years. Contract length matters if a guy is over 30 and declining.

I hear ya, Im just trying to rationalize the signing still. Do we know if the 2nd year is guaranteed?
Would love to know myself too, but it has no bearing on NAW. That would've been a homerun, provided the circumstances. But I think it's possible he saw a potential glut on the wing with Ausar and Ron needing major minutes and then the potential of THJ being back. Not sure he faces that with the Hawks.

Fair enough. Im probably letting a bit of salt cloud my judgement currently as I feel we should have prioritized the backup or future PF position and instead we lost our best shooter to ****, lost our backup pg, and ended up signing a wing and resigning a 3rd string center. Im trying to have faith but so far this free agency has not been kind to my fandom heh.

I think THJ is probably being resigned.

NAW = sign and trade.

From ESPN: The Atlanta Hawks are sending a 2027 second-round pick (via Cleveland) and cash considerations to the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire Nickeil Alexander-Walker via sign-and-trade, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

Not a big fan of Caris as a pro, but he does have his moments. Our second former Wolverine lately. Wonder if Timmy is staying.

I’m not pleased, but not upset. Everyone of importance except NAW (and Laravia, I guess) has re-signed. You can’t get guys that don’t want to leave.

Looking forward to usual board pissing, moaning, and pessimism. You guys are a sad bunch at times.

If you want to be positive, think of Caris as a mentor for Ausar. Ball-handling slasher without a good outside shot, plays defense. Since Ausar is an entirely different level of athlete, if he can learn from Caris, it could help unlock him.

But yeah, we need shooting.

I like levert if he can stay on the court, but unless something else significant happens, our spacing looks really suspect again.

It's not a terrible signing, I think this is more of a development move for Holland, Lavert is the perfect vet for Holland because their games are similar, plus it's a two year deal so it's up before the end of Holland rookie deal so we can see what we have in him.

Pistons are taking a step back next season, regardless.

Yes, that's the way to look at it, a THJ replacement, better/younger, although less relaible. If somehow they can get Monk, that would be their Beasley replacement.

Haven’t seen enough of his game to say if I’m happy or upset with this signing. Hopefully JB can get his former player to buy into the teams play style and culture get the most out of him.

My opinion on LeVert is that if injuries spare him, he'll give us a lot. He's coming to fill Schroder's role (as he did with JB for the Cavs).

Schroder was a injury replacement rental. Ivey is "replacing" Schroder. LaVert is replacing THJ, Robinson is replacing Beasley. Basically ran it back with modest improvements with these changes and hope for internal growth from healthy Ivey and full offseasons from Thompson and Holland.

Levert averaged 37% from 3 while he has decent ball handling skills dishing out 3.4apg on 24mpg. Solid signing in my opinion.

Last season was an exception for him, not the rule. He's a 34% 3 point shooter and definitely not a floor spacer. Teams will gladly give him that shot. Robinson will help, but we need at least 1 more guy in the rotation with some gravity from 3.

I disagree with that. Auser is a guy teams gladly give a shot for, not a guy shooting 34% or better.

This is how I see it as well - especially if Duncan's contract is partially-guaranteed for year 2 and non-guaranteed for year 3. The real test is going to be how quickly Ivey gets his grove back.

I agree Robinson alone isn't enough of a three point threat. I'm thinking that Ivey showed marked improvement from that range before the injury and that Chaz Lanier is going to be getting minutes sooner rather than later. Lanier isn't a developmental pick - he's got a mature offensive game that should make him an available sniper immediately.
