Re: All things KCP
KCP needs the ball in his hands to get into his shooting groove. He's not really a strict catch and shoot player. You get him plays and he gets into rhythm type player.
Which is why he excelled in shooting and PPG with Ish starting since Ish was willing to defer and do the little things to set up our guys and set downscreens.

Still wondering why RJ can't do that and spot up. I bet he can hit spot up three's

I wondered that too, but he's never ever played off-ball for an extended period of time, even in his OKC uniform. When he was off-ball with Russell, he'd be near invisible. He's clearly a big moment type player in which we thrives off having the ball in his hands and slashing.
Which is bad for us, since he's not an elite player who can do that consistently night in and night out unless its the 4th quarter when defenses start to be more tighter on their man which gives RJ more spacing to do his thing. This is basically the culmination of a great sixth man, not entirely a star starter.

KCP's share of the offense since Jackson's return has declined more than that of any other starter, as Jackson's monopolization of shooting and possession almost entirely squeezed KCP out of the offense for a time. Now that Jackson has begun playing like a responsible point guard, KCP's offensive usage should improve---provided that Jackson keeps this up.

Re: All things KCP
A lot of KCP's offensive struggles get blamed on Reggie, but when can we start holding Morris accountable? The guys routinely looks to get his on offense, you won't see him make the extra pass very often, whereas Reggie has been seemingly flourishing as of late.
Just some food for thought. Reggie was a problem when he first returned, but Morris needs to check himself before HE'S the subject of another (pointless) closed-door meeting.

I agree, as much as I don't prefer RJ as our PG of the future, even I will gladly admit he's been playing better as of late and hasn't really been a problem as he was when he first came back. Is it enough to carry us to the playoffs and beyond? That's a whole another argument.
But I will gladly hammer on the fact that Morris has been continuing his miserable shooting streak and his tough defense isn't enough to warrant him more minutes. It's a good thing Tobias has largely stepped up off the bench of all places. I'd like to see Tobias start and try to let him and RJ figure out how to get into a decent chemistry with each other since it's been pretty evident they can't really play with each other. If that doesn't work, then continue Tobias off the bench and find a nice 3 and D SF somehow. But I doubt any are available.

His 3pt shooting is now up to 39.6% this season after going 4/7 in two consecutive games (following a bit of a cold streak). Not too shabby

Great defense and 40% from downtown is at least $15 million a season but I think $20 million per is possible as well.

Crabbe shot 39.4% from three last season and got an average of $18.75 million a year this past summer. He's sorely lacking the great defense qualifier too. Even though I think free agent contracts won't be quite as bloated going forward Caldwell-Pope is getting more than that. Rich Paul will find it for him somewhere.

Coach/President of Basketball Operations loves him. He will get paid what it takes to retain him. Opinions about KCP vary, but SVG's is the one that counts.

I guess I wouldn't be surprised if his agent got him a MAX contract offer from a team like Philly and put Detroit in a real tough spot as far as whether or not they can match a 4 year $120 million offer.

That's why we must make a move this summer to retain KCP.

If he plays at exactly this overall level the rest of the season, he gets a max (second) contract. Not even a question.

I feel as though even if he regressed a bit from here on out, he'd still get it regardless. If our team won't give him one, he'll just shop around from one of PHI or Nets and they'll be begging to come to their team. Basically make us match it or not.
He's proven himself as a clutch and offensively growing player even now.

Yep, his playmaking has clearly improved too, he's averaging 3 ast/gm. Double his career avg
