Looking at the current standings (West is fascinating, especially the play-in) I think I actually have Clips over the Bucks right now.

I can absolutely see the Sun's knocking off Denver, LAL or GS upsetting somebody and Minny making a solid run.

As bad as we are, the league is in a really good spot. Last year's playoffs were pretty damn good. Solid storyline, lots of big names, but enough room for new guys to also shine.

It's kinda crazy that in a league with this much talent we've had so little of it.

It’s kind of insane how this has played out. Haliburton is exactly one of the main types of players we need whose playing in another all star game. With a career 3 pt percentage of like 40 on 6-7 attempts per game.

Meanwhile Hayes’ agent is cold calling teams trying to get a gig for his client

Oh i didnt see you post this I just posted this from yahoo in the fire Weaver thread.

I also posted some stuff about how Halis agent had told multiple lotto teams not to take him Hali confirmed this in another interview. He really wanted to come to Detroit. Its just another incredible miss on a guy who wanted to be a Piston.

I don't even watch non-NBA but of course knowing our pick, I did a little bit of research and I thought it was a no-brainer. When we picked Killian Hayes, I told my cousin, "I hope this isn't another Darko" and have watched Haliburton play. Man. The guy is always smiling, except when he cried after being traded by Sacramento.

I might shed a small tear if all of a sudden the Nets turn it around. That would be our luck lol :banghead:

Both Donovan Mitchell and Booker wanted to come here as well. We just have terrible luck and a way with these type of things it seems

The Booker one is a crazy story. Like the warroom down to the last seconds debating between Booker and Stanley some sides wanting Booker some Stanley. Then as the time runs down SVG makes the call on Stanley. I'd of surely went Winslow or just traded the pick to the Celtics for that huge package fwiw.

The D.Mitch just tearing up our workout and not missing is just a SVG sucks one though come on. Even all the fans knew D.Mitch was the guy that draft. No luck needed on that.

Some of drafting is luck I agree. Esp when you draft a massive longshot and hit like Giannis or Leonard you're relying big time on development and just drafting tools.

I always just go back to the simple these GMs make heaps of money to make these choices. Its a job everyone wants. If they cant be above replacement level for years then onto the next guy. Were searching for a great GM not Mr.average that anyone on realGM can compete with for the job.

We need to change the culture of this team like Jimmy Butler and the Heat. Those guys training and conditioning is off the charts. Reminds me of old Pistons days. They work wonders with undrafted free agents and had 3 of them play prominant roles to the Finals, then change them out for fresh overachievers.

I wish we had that guy. He'd demand respect for this franchise

Or he'd see such little of it, he'd demand to get traded back to Miami. It's basically what happened in Minnesota

Jokic with another crazy ass triple double; 21 pts (perfect 10-10), 19 rebs, 15 assists. And that's like... normal.

And Luka over there just dropping 41-9-11 like it's nothing.

This league is ridiculous.

Scoring from just the 2010s to 2020s has went up over 10ppg and 15+ ppgs from the 2000s.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/average-league-scoring-in-each-decade

Teams have figured out the value in the 3pt line. In turn it forces defenses to defend the 3pt line which leads to even more efficient scoring in the other areas. Also the pace of play is up back to its highest levels since the 80s.

Sometimes I see people using counting stats to make a argument for their favorite young player on a bad team being super valuable. "Hes putting up 20 8 5 in his 2nd year" Its like well yeah in 2024 NBA any player getting usage can put up numbers like that. This isnt 2005 its 2024 the game is completely diff.

Whats the players %s looking like, TO-AST,how is his defense? Efficiency metrics, defense, and good looks created for teammates thats valuable. You need guys who can score but they need being able to score in efficient way just raw P+R+A are meaningless.

That's what happens when you decide you are going to lose on purpose for a few years. You develop bad habits and a bunch of losers, and things snowball from there. Phoenix and Sacramento went through the same thing, and took them a while to get out of it.

I wish they’d let them get up into the face and body of the ball handler again. Get all up on em, get em all nervous, lol, idk, but defense can’t be played how it used to, except in playoffs a little

Pistons should pick up Aleksej Pokuševski and get a look at him rest of the season.

Did we actually just sign Buddy Boheim again?

Return to Detroit Pistons
