Amazing how Cade’s slump starts right after a starting lineup change...

Those are all very good vets, and they're all 40% or better 3 point shooters.

They aren't really worse, been very up and down but not worse. Burks and Bojan needed to go, that isn't the issue here.
The issue is that the core isn't good enough right now. The team will live and die with how they perform.

This is misleading because guys who aren't good shooters tend to not take 3 point shots, which isn't accounted for in that number. Centers like Bam Adebayo, Jarrett Allen, Gobert, etc take almost no threes so they really don't drag that number down toward reality, despite that fact.

Something like median 3-pointers made by position would be a little more interesting.

Morris shot 18% from 3 for us and played a total of 68 minutes. Bojan had the worst On-Off of any steady rotation player on the Pistons and is again the worst on the Knicks. We were 3-25 when he played. Safe to say he wasn't the savior. Burks and Fournier are basically a wash.

If the Pistons are worse (they're not, they had a whopping 8 wins before the deadline), it would have more to do with losing Muscala and Gallo and going back to Wiseman-ball.

But mostly, it would be because we went back to the incredibly predictable spamming of the Cade P&R where you really live and die with Cade having a dominant performance or not on any given night. If he's not amazing, you're gonna get crushed. That's why we were competitive against Orlando that previous matchup, against the Knicks, and the Bulls, and bad against the Suns, Lakers, Cavs, and this Magic game. Monty's offensive system when Cade plays basically makes it live or die by one guy.If the opponent has a coach with a pulse, it's not too difficult to see this coming and shut it down.

Morris was rusty. He's shot about 40% from 3 for his career, and has the lowest AST/TO ratio in over 40 years since Michael Adams, which has been a huge problem for us.. We turn it over, they score, then the defense is set, and our offense stinks. He's a hometown guy, and I think all the other guys would gain more from him being here as opposed to .... some future pick from the year 2525, if man is still alive.

Fournier on his leadership and growing with this group: “I’m the oldest guy here, which is kind of crazy. To be honest, it’s hard to jump in a new situation and tell guys what to do. They don’t have my trust. we don’t know each other. My goal is to help with whatever I can.”

The main issue with Morris was that Sasser can't play with him because they're both too undersized. So would you rather have Sasser getting DNP's to force Morris into the lineup? Or doing that nonsense where Monty was playing Morris like 4 minutes, then Sasser a few minutes before bringing back the starters as he did when Monte first came back.

I think Sasser playing well to start the year with Monte constantly hurt was clearly pointing toward him getting moved at the deadline.

Given that Monte was going to be an UFA, seems like the obvious thing was to recoup what you could get for him before he signed w/ a good team in the offseason anyways.

Really only matters for some bigs as the vast majority of players shoot the 3ball today. Bigs who shoot the 3 should be compared to those who do. Bigs who barely or dont shoot have no barring in 3pt metrics like this rightfully so.

Median wouldnt put the correct value on efficiency which is what matters. If a guy shoots 30% from 3 but shoots a ton it raises his median made while being a negative for team.

You don't see how it's important to factor in how many players per position are actually shooting 3's at all when considering that percentage?

There are 23 players that qualify as playing some center (starter and bench) that make 1+ three per game and one of them is a Piston (Stewart). That means, most centers simply are not shooting much at all, and around 10 teams have none.

Non shooters dont have any barring on average I really dont see the issue no. I actually find it strange to think median is better then average for a statistic. Their is s reason the stats are always shown as averages it is actually useful.

No need for us to go back and forth on this. Its going to be one of those you see it one way I see it another and nobody will change their mind. We can just simply disagree and call it a night on this.
