Grimes has knee problems>how did he pass Pistons physical ??(Red/Flag)
The Pistons should have thought of cancelled the trade, because red flags on his knees were there every year.
The Pistons cancelled BOL-BOL trade deal for less problems than Grimes, but they let this deal go ? could be a costly mistake.
Grimes has knee issues for 2-3 years and he's out again with knee issues,he needs surgury off season hopefully to fix them.
I don't know if the pistons will resign him with continuing knee problems every year.
Grimes is sitting with a persistent knee injury and this isn't the first time, as he's had knee problems dating back to 2022 and has been on the injury list three times with knee injuries since
After playing just 46 games in his rookie season, some of which were DNP CDs and some due to injury, Grimes played 71 games in year two and has appeared in 49 games this season, missing 11 games and counting due to injury.
This is particularly important because Grimes is already signed for next season and the Pistons have to decide whether to extend him to be part of the future, a decision they will have to weigh more carefully if he is suddenly expected to miss any of next season.
Pistons traded their best players available selling at the deadling for a knee injured player who may have continuing problems with knees.Teams are dumping their problem player on the pistons and laughing behind their back.
Grimes will not be on the team next year because of his bad knees he will end up being cut before the start of the season.

Re: Grimes has knee problems>how did he pass Pistons physical ??
the team was obviously aware of his injury and are likely okay with his knees. if there was any structural damage, etc. then they'd likely flag it as a deal-breaker.
players of grimes' calibre don't usually sign rookie extensions so he'll just play out next season and they'll either retain him as an RFA or let him go.

Yes, the Pistons may be aware of his injuries but i think they looked the other way because of how desperate
they were to change the team.

Yes, they felt it was worth it, you can accept trades for injured players, passing the physical is not mandatory, otherwise no injured player could be traded.

I presume they did look into it and didn't think the knee injury was enough of a concern in the long-term. Time will tell.

I hope they just shut him down for the season and give him a chance to rest and rehab whatever is bothering him.
He’ll have all next season to earn a contract.

Pistons were certainly aware of his injuries. Not sure if they waived the physical or not. I don’t think they “looked the other way”. They had multiple teams interested in BB and Burks. It’s just risk management - no decisions are 100%. So you take some risks and you might get a great deal if they get their injury fully resolved. You might also get nada if the injury persists. Boston has a lot riding on Porzingis. He is a huge risk but it’s paying off for them, at least for now. All GMs do this to some extent.
So does anyone know in detail what is the extent of his injury? There are lots of different knee issues and they each have their range of seriousness.

It would be great if he could contribute at rotation player level, if not, the trade was worth it to me because I wanted to see as much garbage shipped out of town as possible from the early season 100 consecutive straight games losing, historically garbage, roster we had.
So theres that.
So theres that.

Also, do you know what type of knee injury he is suffering that has led you to this conclusion?

I don't think he was traded to play much this season anyways which is why they kept Fournier as well. Next year will be Grimes test. I think he will provem wrong!

How is this trade looking better when he's had knee problems year after year and he's not doing anything about them ,he.s just taking time off. The trade is looking worse and worse like many of the Pistons trades in the past.
The New York Knicks announced that guard Quentin Grimes suffered a subluxation of his right patella.(this was their explaination)
Quentin Grimes (knee) remains out for Pistons Saturday
Detroit Pistons guard Quentin Grimes will not play Saturday in the team's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
WHAT IT MEANS:
Grimes was listed doubtful, so this comes as no surprise. He'll remain sidelined due to right knee injury management.
In 49 games this season, Grimes is averaging 7.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 13.3 FanDuel points.

Who cares? Bojan and Burks weren’t getting us anything of value anymore, we missed the boat on bojan 4-5months into his pistons career is when he should’ve been shipped. Moving them opened up playing the younger guys good move

I care !!! we traded our best trade assets at the deadline for a player with bum knees who cannot help us.the other players we aquired will be cut after the season making room for vets who can't get a contract somewhere else.

“our best trade asset” I don’t think bojan/burk held the value some think. Grimes isn’t done either.kellmellus50 wrote:joedumars1 wrote:Who cares? They were assets and I'm sure most of us would like to have gotten value for them.
I haven't given up on that yet, but the early returns are less than great.

Thanks for finding out WHAT was wrong with the knee.
How do you treat patella subluxation?
Physical therapy, specifically vastus lateralis strengthening, or the use of a patellofemoral brace during activities can be tried. Unfortunately, nonoperative management is often unsuccessful. Patients with continued symptoms after 3–6 months of non-operative treatment can be indicated for surgical intervention
What is the recovery time for patella subluxation surgery?
The quick answer, during the first few days, you can help reduce swelling by keeping your leg elevated when sitting and holding an ice pack to your knee for 10 to 15 minutes every few hours. It may take 6 weeks to 4 months to fully recover from this injury. It is so important to get on a proper strengthening program.
