I can't see HCD going this early with his off the field stuff. Also, I would be pretty surprised to see Mettenberger go this high.

Solid mock though. Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback.

I thought the issue with HCD was that he took a loan from his S&C coach? If that's all, I can't really see too many teams holding that against him, especially since he's the best S prospect in this class by a wide margin. Mettenberger is a reach at the mid-1st right now but with the way he's playing and the number of teams that need a QB, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the 1st round when it's all said and done. If guys like Ponder and Locker can be first rounders, Mett definitely can.

Guys like Ponder and Locker were helped by the lack of other options. This draft has potentially 5 QB's with legit first round grades, so there won't be a team really that is forced to reach.

I'd love if the cowboys went dline with their 1st 2 picks. Sadly, I'll only believe it when I see it

Seattle would get even scarier if Amaro fell in their laps

To be totally honest, I didn't intend to have them pick two DTs with their first two picks - I shuffled the first round up a bit midway through making it, and forgot to adjust the Cowboys' 2nd round pick accordingly. They could certainly USE that infusion of talent in the middle though, especially if Hatcher is allowed to walk.

Did I not see a RB until the top of the 3rd? Interesting. Pretty bold but not far-fetched. My next one won't have any in top 50.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Yup. I'm sure someone will end up taking a RB in the second round but I didn't see a spot to put one that lined up fit/need/value.

And of course, as soon as I post that, the Niners announce they've extended Kilgore. (facepalm)

Don't hate this as a Vikings fan but think they may be better off going BPA at 8 if the top 3 QBs are all off the board and in that case the pick should be Watkins. Seeing what Cincy has done around Dalton makes me feel like if you don't have an elite QB you can mask that a bit by providing a load of weapons around him, and with Peterson, Watkins, Patterson, plus Jennings in the slot and Roudolph at TE I feel that group has the talent to raise the level of the QB's play. CB is a need but they may go the FA route with Verner to pair with the very solid Rhodes already in place.

If Carr were to slide that far I think I'd prefer jump up a few spots to grab him over McCarron. DE is a need though depending on what they do with Griffin maybe not one they need to address this early in the draft.

Good info, thanks. Watkins to Minny would make a lot of sense if he's still on the board.

As far as Carr/McCarron goes, I agree that Carr is in a tier above AJ but as a rule I don't project trades into my mocks (too subjective/too much uncertainty). Personally, I think Carr ends up somewhere in the late 1st round with one of the top-10 teams that misses out on Teddy/Bortles/Manziel trading back into the first for him. Could be Minnesota, that extra 3rd is decent ammo as part of a package.

What would you say the Vikings' top needs are (aside from QB)?

Agreed adding trades to mocks just gets messy.

I would say Vikings top needs probably in this order:
QB - Currently only have Ponder on roster
ILB - Cut Henderson, no real internal replacement
CB - Have solid building block in Rhodes but Cook is a FA who may or may not return and wasn't very good or healthy to begin with. Still need someone in the slot as well, could see them addressing the outside spot in FA and slot in the draft to compete with Josh Robinson.
S - Another case where they have one solid young building block in Harrison Smith but need a pairing piece.
OLB - Greenway locks down one side but need another starter and depth.
DT - Williams likely gone so could use a big body to clog up the middle and give Floyd some room to work.
OG - Depending on what Charlie Johnson does they may be looking to upgrade both G spots in the draft/FA.
DE - A lot comes down to what they do with Griffin, i think he's resigned which makes this more a depth need.
RB - Toby is a FA and Norv wants more of a pass catcher type to back up AD.

Very thorough. Thanks!
