1st round 2020 Mock Draft (Update: FINAL MOCK 4/22)

Post#1 » by GS Warriors 1 » Fri Apr 3, 2020 11:55 pm

Not sure how many of these I'll do but why not use some time to make a mock draft! Some spots I expect a trade and will state so, don't trip on some of these picks. Some surprise player(s) will dip/rise, just how it plays out sometimes in reality. Here we go:

1. CIN - QB Joe Burrow, LSU

2. WSH - DE Chase Young, Ohio State- Would take a lot to get off Young, possible trade target spot for Justin Herbert.

3. DET - CB Jeff Okudah, Ohio State - If QB taken at 2, Young is the pick.

4. NYG - OT Tristan Wirfs, Iowa - Possible domino continues. If Okudah available, could be the pick.

5. MIA - QB Justin Herbert, Oregon - Could try to beat out LAC for Herbert with a trade up. Tristan Wirfs or Jordan Love/Tua Tagovailoa go here if Herbert gone.

6. LAC - QB Jordan Love, Utah State - The love for Love seems to be real. Seems to be gaining traction as the 3rd QB taken. Perfect spot for Love, who could use a year behind Tyrod Taylor. Chargers could also look into trade up for Herbert.

7. CAR - NT Derrick Brown, Auburn - Could be an absolute force for a defense that needs depth up front for new scheme.

8. AZ - OT Jedrick Wills Jr., Alabama - Viable tackle to pair with D.J. Humphries, whom Arizona extended for 3 years earlier in offseason.

9. JAX - DT Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina - Seems to be a rising player and the Jaguars need an interior force on DL to pair with outside standout Josh Allen.

10. CLE - ILB Isaiah Simmons, Clemson - Could be a tackle here, possible trade for a team that may want Simmons more than Cleveland. Simmons is an intriguing talent that teams will need to figure out where to put him.

11. NYJ - OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville - Becton seems risky for me, but he can move well for someone his size and might have the highest upside out of any tackle.

12. LV - WR CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma - Seems to be growing that Lamb will be the first WR taken. Sleeper - Tua Tagovailoa

13. SF - WR Henry Ruggs III, Alabama - Yes, they pass up the more polished Jeudy but the team will like the big play ability of Ruggs III. Trade out wouldn't surprise me here, either.

14. TB - OT Andrew Thomas, Georgia - Best fit of round 1 so far. Steady, solid, and polished player ready to step in now.

15. DEN - WR Jerry Jeudy, Alabama

16. ATL - CB C.J. Henderson, Florida

17. DAL - QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama - Will pick the spot here. DAL trades down to take C Cesar Ruiz or CB Kristian Fulton.

18. MIA - OT Austin Jackson, USC - Next tier of OT start with Jackson, who seems to be gaining play. Highest bust factor out of any round 1 pick.

19. LV - CB Kristian Fulton, LSU

20. JAX - LB Patrick Queen, LSU

21. PHI - LB Kenneth Murray, Oklahoma

22. MIN - WR Justin Jefferson, LSU

23. NE - EDGE A.J. Epenesa, Iowa - May target Tagovailoa as he dips in this mock.

24. NO - WR K.J. Hamler, Penn State - Shock of round 1, but Hamler fits in as the stretch the field guy. No off ball LB worth taking here, so wonder if they try to trade up for Queen or Murray.

25. MIN - OT Josh Jones, Houston - They take a shot at a LT who looks the part but may not be quite ready. High upside, high risk player.

26. MIA - C/G Cesar Ruiz, Michigan

27. SEA - EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson, LSU

28. BAL - EDGE Zach Baun, Wisconsin

29. TEN - DL Marlon Davidson, Auburn

30. GB - WR Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State

31. SF - S Grant Delpit, LSU - Purely picking the spot here. Trade highly likely, this seems to be around the range for a team that wants Delpit.

32. KC - CB Jeff Gladney, TCU

This is purely my gut feeling on Cleveland, but I don’t think they value LBs that much. We cut Kirksey and let Schoebert walk.

So I must say I don’t see Simmons making sense at 10.

Solid mock. I'd be surprised to see Simmons fall to 10, but it is certainly possible. I also think Jones and Cleveland will go before Austin Jackson as far at the OTs go.

8. Cardinals - DT Derrick Brown, Auburn

9. Jaguars - DT Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina

10. Browns - OT Tristan Wirfs, Iowa

13. 49ers - WR CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma

14. Eagles - WR Jerry Jeudy, Alabama - PHI trade 21 and 53 to TB for 14

15. Broncos - WR Henry Ruggs III, Alabama

16. Falcons - EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson, LSU

17. Vikings - WR Justin Jefferson, LSU - MIN trades 22, 89, and 132 to DAL for 17 and 164

18. Dolphins - OT Austin Jackson, USC

19. Ravens - LB Kenneth Murray, Oklahoma - BAL trades 28 and 60 to LV for 19

20. Jaguars - CB A.J. Terrell, Clemson

21. Bucs - OT Josh Jones, Houston

22. Cowboys - C Cesar Ruiz, Michigan

23. Chargers - QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama - LAC trades 37 and 2021 1st round pick to NE for 23

24. Saints - LB Patrick Queen, LSU

25. Vikings - CB Kristian Fulton, LSU

26. Dolphins - S Xavier McKinney, Alabama

27. Colts - QB Jordan Love, Utah State - IND trades 34 and 75 to SEA for 27

28. Raiders - WR Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State

29. Titans - CB Jeff Gladney, TCU

30. Packers - WR Denzel Mims, Baylor

31. Bucs - RB Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin - TB trades 45 and 76 to SF for 31

32. Chiefs - CB Trevon Diggs, Alabama

There you have it. Included trades, which came out to 6. No trades between 1-13, which probably won't happen LOL, but breaking it down, all those teams seemed pretty content staying put and getting their guys. I think there will be more trades between 16-32 than the top 15 of the draft. As always, expect at least a little bit of movement in the top half of the draft.
