Cubs Players Endorse Cuban As Owner

Derrek Lee is just one member of the Cubs who would welcome Mark Cuban as the owner of the franchise.

"Well, he seems awesome," Lee continued. "He's passionate. The guy wants to win, so you know he's going to try his best to make the team a winner. He seems like he'd be cool as an owner."

Cubs outfielder Cliff Floyd agreed with his longtime friend.

"From what we've seen of him, I think everybody would welcome that for what he does for his players," Floyd said. "In return you see his players always busting their tail for him."

If the players want him, I want him. He has a winning attitude.

No complaints here, I welcomed the idea when his name first came up as a possible buyer.

No real shocker here, its well documented that he treats his players like gold.

You posted a link to a new topic fyi.

I want Cuban as our owner.
He will turn Wrigley into a high-tech stadium.
TV's at every seat. High Speed Internet in the concourses. A video scoreboard next to the old one. People will hate it but it will be awesome.

ehh, keep Wrigley old tech. I already hate the advertisements up, it ruins the park. Pretty soon the whole thing will be filled with advertisements.

I would like a small replay board in the outfield.
That would be pretty cool to look at top plays.
I noticed they added plasma televisions in the concourse area.

Why not. He'll be enthusiastic, players will love to play for him, and he could make the Cubs the Yankees of the NL. (Hopefully, without some of the bad things.)

Cuban to Enter MLB?
http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiret ... enter_mlb/
Chicago Sun-Times - It has been established that Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur who has better thoughts about rescuing the newspaper business than people in the newspaper business, wants to know about other assets Sam Zell and Tribune Co. might include in the Cubs transaction. Surely, he will inquire about the inclusion of Wrigley Field.

Selig is on record that he'd like the deal to be completed by next Opening Day, while Zell and the Tribsters are shooting for the fourth quarter of 2007. Is Cuban curious when the grand plan will be presented to what is expected to be a boatload of potential bidders?

Well, in fact, he is. The projected date is October, he should know.

"Until the package for the Cubs is available, there isn't really anything to comment on," Cuban wrote. "Plus, the financial structure of a deal would be very complicated. So that remains to be seen."

As I said earlier, the first thing Cuban will do when he gets here is order to tear down Wrigley and build a huge very nice stadium in Addison.
People will be really upset with him for tearing down history but it will all be worth it when he builds a 45,000 seat stadium. No more ticket problems.
I love Wrigley as much as anyone but I am more of a Cub fan than a Wrigley fan. I don't go to Cubs games for the stadium like a lot of people. I go for the team whether they are doing good or bad.

Larry Stone from the Seattle Times wrote a nice article about Wrigley Field.
