SMU had a hell of a first half... right up to the Hail Mary by TCU where Ponies defenders stood (not jumped - stood) while the TCU receiver went up and got the ball.

Momentum has swung.

mistakes all over the place, refs are way too involved, both teams have sideline warnings, iowa keeps shooting themselves in the foot in a desperate attempt to keep north texas in the game, people out of sync, just ugly football

and there is the 3rd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of the half

the announcers have even made jokes when plays are successfully run without a penalty being called

its like the twilight zone

16 play drive, 81 yards, took 8:50

rushes: 15, passes: 1

and that was with the 3rd and 4th string rbs

and there is a pick, now to close it out

it wasn't pretty (it usually isn't with iowa), but we got the win and that's all that matters

edit: 40 minutes of possession!

Getting my popcorn ready for TU/USC. The wife is wearing her burnt orange outfit and humming "The Eyes of Texas" while cooking dinner. I am wearing my USC T-shirt and remaining quiet because I am hungry.

I'm not a stupid man.

January 4, 2006. That was a very special night!

It was.

It ain't 2006 anymore. And Vince Young & Earl Thomas aren't there anymore.

Vince and Leinart sitting down to talk about that game is amusing, but it just makes me think about how Leinart was the one that went on to play for the Texans, albeit very briefly, while Vince went on to play for that other team.

Anyways...
