Week of Oct. 6th thread

Post#1 » by Icness » Fri Oct 5, 2007 4:50 pm

Sorry this is after the UK-SC game...

Lots of compelling games this week. The highlights:
Oklahoma-Texas
Ohio State-Purdue
Florida-LSU
VaTech-Clemson
Cincy-Rutgers
Georgia-Tennessee
Nebraska-Missouri
Kansas-Kansas State
Wisconsin-Illinois
Bowling Green-BC
LA-Lafayette-North Texas, if only because these are both winless and probably won't win any other games, and North Texas never runs and LAL never throws

My beloved Bobcats are road favorites in Buffalo!

You better hope so big guy, because USC wants no part of LSU in a title game.

Brian Brohm sure got back on track Friday night. He looked outstanding and even flashed a little mobility. Too bad Louisville has a truly awful defense.

Edit--how did Utah lose 3 games?!? They dominated a decent UCLA team and lit up Louisville.

Random early Sat thoughts:

Should be an interesting game between BC and BGSU. The Falcons have played consistently well offensively and have a lot of speed at WR and RB.

The more I look at Florida the more I like LSU tonight

If Cincy can win at Rutgers, they have a very legit chance to go undefeated. They have to go to USF and that game winner will almost certainly run the table, barring a Syracuse or Pitt upset. You have to wonder if there are no other undefeateds if they'll be playing for a title. Can there be two one-loss teams that can bump them out, considering the Big East is no worse than the #4 conference and probably as good as the Big Ten this year?

I like Ohio State over Purdue today--I think this is a game where Todd Boeckman truly arrives.

Does any coach consistently do less with more than Phil Fullmer? You look at Tennessee on paper and there's no way they should lose more than one game any year, yet they're almost always mid-pack of the SEC. Today looks like another one of those games; Georgia is very good but beatable if the Vols play their game and tackle well. But I bet Georgia wins by 10+

UCLA 44, Notre Dame 20. I hope.

Didnt get to see much of the Louisville game (Red Sox fan) but Brohm is doing his part, he gets points taken away in the heisman race because they dont win( he wont win that) but NFL scouts have to know he's legit. I tend to look for comparisons as a gauge to what a player could become, Brohm reminds me of Jim Kelly at the same stage. The Falcons and others i would think would be happy with that.

I know you dont think they want any part of LSU but i seriously doubt they are shaking in their boots. The real title game is against Cal. The BCS title game will be a scrimmage for them. :D

Mendenhall is the best back in the Big Ten. Better than Mike Hart
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

Got a good one going between Kansas and KSU, the playcaller for K-State is the same one the Bears use i believe but its a tight battle. I like Freeman and Jordy Nelson is the biggest sleeper i've seen out there this year. Big, fast and nice hands, usually a good combination.

I actually like LSU, if they get by the Gators i'm sure they'll play the winner of the Cal/USC game. I just happen to think that the Trojans have the better talent, they just need to get everyone healthy and start playing like it.

You're probably right, if Florida wins and runs the table, it could be them in a NC....

As far as the talent, you might be right, but USC's talent is more concentrated in certain positions, IE they have more weaknesses than LSU.

I wish Matt Flynn would just blow it, and let Perriloux come in and win the game so we can just make the switch.

You may have a point about the Trojans talent being conentrated, for example i think their corners and wideouts are average. Their strength is their front 7 and OL. They may have five 1st rounders in their front 7, that is pretty amazing. just my take.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't like Rutgers' chances at Cincy and I'm not going to call Ohio State over Purdue JUST yet. Purdue has a lot to play for lately.
