He has a beautiful jumper for a 7 footer. He has amazing basketball IQ and his defense is better than I expected. Chriss has been given an amazing opportunity to start and he has been playing like trash this month shooting 36% from the field. I know Ray Ray has mentioned Chriss is on the untouchable list, but I would trade him for Cousins. He' been given the green light lately and that makes me wonder if McD has told Watson to give Chriss more shots to showcase him. I'd expect it would make a great headline that Chriss returns to play for his hometown team.
Ok, sorry but I cant let this slide.
First of all I think it is a shame for the entire fanbase when a mod uses such divisive and biased rhetoric when writing about our own players.
This Bender vs Chriss stuff is the new Dragic vs Bledsoe. Except the posters arguing for Bender have zero hard facts to back up what they are saying.
Second of all let me explain something to you. Marquese Chriss is a 19 year old rookie playing against starters. Despite that on the season he is averaging a PER of 11. That is reasonably close to an average NBA player which is fine for a rookie.
Dragan Bender on the other hand has a PER of 5.8 which by ESPN standards is the worst in the entire league among qualified players it is even worse than Hezonjas.
You bash Chriss for shooting and in the same post you rave about Benders shooting???
Bender 37.1%FG 32.1%3s 37.5%FT
Chriss 41.9%FG 29.7%3s 63.1%FT
Until recently Chriss was shooting closer to 34% from 3.
Even the eyetest since summer league showed that Bender is not a good shooter. He makes some but good shooters do not struggle from the line like that and they also dont miss as badly as Bender often does where he is not even close to be on target.
Then we continously here how Bender has such high IQ, yet his TOV% is the 2nd highest on the team at 17.5%. Only Chandler is worse. Chriss has the 4th lowest TOV% on the team at 12.2%.
Now passing you say, Benders assist rate is 5% only Williams, Len and Chandler are worse. Chriss is slightly ahead at 5.1
Also Bender has by far the worst Ortg on the team and a worse Drtg than Chriss.
Tldr: Benders season was bad and he has shown next to nothing so far to justify his draft position not even resl glimpses. People who saw him in Europe knew how hard he struggled in euro league against better competition already where his shooting numbers plummeted.
Personally I had Ante Zizic ranked higher than Bender and Zubac not far behind and so far I feel validated as Zizic is dominating in Europe.
