Deal for Lions' draft pick hinges partly on Raider (Article)

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:12 pm

Atlanta: It's true the Lions would fall the farthest here, now to No. 8, but the Falcons have something the Lions want -- two high second-round picks (the 39th and 44th overall choices).

i wouldn't do the deal if it involved both of our second round picks. we need to be able to keep one of them to get the safety we'd be missing out on.

I really hope we don't trade any of our picks.

We need some help, and even if we miss out on Landry @ 8, we almost certainly can land Meriweather at 39 and still draft someone like Okoye or Levi Brown.

Calvin Johnson is great, but imo we need more help in other areas.

I agree with the both of you.

Okoye is also the guy I'm currently wanting with the 8th overall pick. I'm actually sick of hearing Levi's name being mentioned.

Yep, I really hope we don't take Brown with the 8th pick.

I would usually agree, but Calvin is the best wide receiver prospect I've ever seen. In fact, he's possibly the best overall prospect since Orlando Pace. He's absolutely flawless. I'd grudgingly give up both 2nd round picks for him, but if we don't - I won't be upset. It's a win-win situation. I'd be happy if we make the trade, and happy if we don't.

I think Calvin IS the guy, but with all of the mess ups we have had with FA's, I don't think that we can afford to give up those two secound rounders. We need more bodies up front, and I feel like we can get two quality guys in the second round that could help us a lot.
