indeed
a lottery team like the pistons would be perfect for him, there he could do his thing actually helping the team succeeding in their goal, tanking.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season
The warriors are
74-71 when Klay plays
44-21 when Klay sits.

And yet, I just read a tweet from a Warrior writer informing all fans that Klay won't be traded. Why the hell NOT?

Klay played an amazing defensive game on jk to stop jks stretch of 20 point games.

What's the difference between Klay's defense and a soggy tampon? Klay doesn't stop the bleeding.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Steph on stationary shooter.
And 5th guy should be the help for dray and wiggins man when they go help. And be able to rebound. Loon was great at that. Moody too.

I see it this way as well, with the 5th guy being interchangeable based on matchups:

- if you need shooting, Klay
- if you need playmaking/floor game, Podz
- if you need 3&D, Moody
- if you need a defensive big, Looney
- if you need a rounded big, TJD

Could even make a case for GP2 in some situations.. one of the huge pluses of having a JK/Wiggins/Dray trio is that they could make up any combo of 2-5 to accommodate that 5th person. A versatile lineup that can adapt to teams based on their starting lineup or their strengths

This is a regular occurrence for the hawks. Murray is like this all the time. Very little resistance as a POA, and offball. You see how many backdoor cuts he gave up for Steph?

He is good at gambling and getting deflections and sometimes steals

Except he has a really high contest% and oPPP

Everyone gives up backdoor cuts to Steph because they all try and hedge towards the 3pt line.. using Steph Curry as the example just isnt going to land, especially when the stats tell an extremely different story

I'm not using Steph as a sole example. I'm telling you I watch all the hawks games and he is like this very often. But Like I said if he got traded maybe he would actually try harder and be better but for the hawks he hasn't used his full defensive potential

He once led the league in steals but right now even Trae Young has more steals than him

I hear you, I'm just saying these stats, which are typically in good alignment with defensive impact, really like him on both sides of the court. By those metrics even, they have him as underpaid this year and slightly underpaid in his next contract.. on a team he doesnt even fit with

That said, less interested in him than before, as at this stage Kuminga should be given a chance as the secondary scorer/POA defender. That Kerr gave him a shot at it tonight bodes well.. even though Kuminga didn't play well, he still got the opportunity. And the team defense was mostly good in those opportunities

I wouldn't even start klay anymore.

I like our ability to speed up the game and defend to get into some transition offense. Klay is better off with cp3 on the second unit where defense and pace isn't as important vs other bench.

We shift too much to a 3pt half court offense with klay. We've been doing great at defending, running, and getting rim pressure without klay. Then steph gets all he can eat off dho's, inverted screens, and kick outs

This version of Klay isn't even an NBA player.

He'll be 34 years old in a few days. Body looks relatively fit, but he moves like a 50yo. Athletic decline is one thing, but this either an undisclosed injury or just an utter collapse. I can't imagine any team who's seen Klay's recent performances being interested in him as a player after this season, but there's usually some sucker GM out there somewhere.

Also since its not really been mentioned a ton... a Wiggins ankle injury is a huge blow to the efforts for several reasons:

- best perimeter defender and best guy to pair with Draymond defensively
- unfortunately one of the best post options
- who do you think is going to get extra minutes if he's out?

Cp3

Almost any answer is going to suck, but I think its Klay/CP3 and maybe some GP2. Very little if any Moody

But even with his non-gtd contract and all the benefits that brings, I'd rather move off CP3 as well. Podz has earned the backup PG role, Draymond is back, CoJo can play sparingly if there are injuries, and the team looks much better when its pushing the pace than when its not. Obviously not advocating for a full-time role for him, but when Q pushed the ball off made baskets and put pressure on the Hawks D immediately, that reminded me of the good side of Poole.. and thats never going to happen with CP3. Slow, PnR with Saric, and mostly mid-range jumpers. If the starting unit was thriving, that'd be ideal. But it isn't, so it isn't, so it might be time to abandon the slowed halfcourt set. A big selling point of it was to slow the game down for Kuminga, and that does not seem necessary anymore. So no real reason to keep investing in something that only benefits expiring, unlikely to return guys... especially since it barely moves the needle, if at all

Sprained foot trickier than ankle. All things equal, usually longer period of discomfort but less risk of re-injury than with ankle. Swelling usually comes after a day or two.. if he misses the next game, very possible its a multi-week thing. If its minor enough that he can play, then W's dodged a bullet

Guys here are so desperate for Moody to play. If Moody was healthy a Wiggins injury would create minutes for Moody.

I think our board overrates Moodt.

Did our beat writers even press Kerr about playing Klay 35 minutes?

Klay’s shot selection and defensive effort are so frustrating. Only thing worse is Kerr insisting on playing Klay so much and the dumb 3/4 guard lineups.

Alot of the fans and beat writers love klay. Even injured wiggins was taking some heat for this game. Even dray because he didn't shoot well. For alot of people, points scored still determine whether it's a good game or not.

Many people only see

Klay 10 pts
Dray 6 pts
Wiggins 2 pts

Huge night from Steph and a loss.

Kind of encapsulates the season.
